No middle ground?

He's not untouchable, so trade him if the right deal comes along, but I'd be looking to add talent alongside him before looking to move him.

Celtics Brass should evaluate this next month and look for improvement from this team before the deadline. Most likely they should trade a couple players that could help a team in their quest for a playoff/championship push, ie Schroeder, Gwill etc, for assets. Be small time sellers. Then in the offseason use our bigger expiring contracts, first round picks, aquired assets and TPE to significantly upgrade the team. If the 2nd step works best by shipping out JB too, then so be it.

Not sure where that puts me in your poll....Is there make a reasonable assesment and act accordingly option? Or just the two knee jerk choices of cross ur arms, stamp ur feet and hold ur ground?

Neither.

This. You need to add a couple more categories like:

“Trade him if you can get an All-Star caliber PG or PF in return.”

Or

“trade him if you can get back two very good young players who better mesh with Tatum.”

Greenly didn't like that I said only a vocal minority was saying Jaylen had to be or must be traded in the "Why Jaylen Brown must be traded" thread.

He is trying to prove that a majority of people on this blog think Jaylen has to be traded, hence the two extremes in the poll. Either you think he absolutely does or does not need/have to be traded....according to him.

Neither.

Yeah, neither absolute.  But unless we get a great offer, I’m keeping him.

I like Jaylen too much to trade him, so I voted to keep him.  I think he is still physically limited from his hammy or something else, and has not been close to 100%. You see it on his lack of lift, and lack of the same explosiveness at the rim.

Now if a great trade package came up that just was too hard to pass up, we can talk.

The obvious answer is the third option, just like it is with every single player in the NBA.

Agree. Unfortunately, there are some JKJB supporters who would pass over ideal teammates for Tatum and rare opportunities in order to keep Brown (I’m still PO’d about not sending Brown for Kawhi because it likely would have generated at least one title for us, perhaps more if Kawhi falls in love with Boston like PP and KG did). They act like he’s Scottie Pippen or something. Grossly overrated by them.

Third option gives people a chance to straddle the fence, you shouldn’t have caved.

I don’t think nick or Kio are absolutists.  They just want a trade that clearly makes us better.  Rather than take a big, or even moderate, risk, they prefer the young all-star.

Take something like this:

Brown + filler for Murray, Poeltl, McDermott

Some folks would see that as a steal for the Celts, others for the Spurs.  It’s a beauty in the eye of the beholder trade.  A JKJB might be inclined to quickly turn it down; JTJB supporters reflexively say yes.  It’s all about the skepticism you apply to the trade coming in.

I agree: two options only. Provide context on your choice. No because I don’t think the right level of all star would come back in return.

I’ve been saying this across other messages, but I think a decent trade would be Beal for Brown. It does three positive things for us:

1) It shows commitment to Tatum (he has publicly said he wants to play with him)
2) We see what this new duo can do together.
3) If it doesn’t work out we free up a max position to turn our attn to free agency.

A lot of people will say that isn’t enough of a return for Brown who is signed lonnger term where Beal is on an expiring. We gotta stop thinking in this mindset of winning every trade.
