Ime was the wrong choice from the beginning, this team needed an experienced coach/leader with a bark and a bite.

Tp….but

C’mon man…. Uchoka checked all the boxes ……And had the imprimatur of our 3  20-something star players.

How can this be the wrong choice?

I'd love to hear this guy unpack this comment.

Also: where have all of the Ime haters gone? It seems like there was a mass exodus once the Celtics started to win.
I don't think there was a 'mass exodus' as you put forth. There are a couple of people who do not post here anymore who were very vocal about not liking the hiring.

I was an 'Ime hater' in some form or another. I had really high expectations of this roster, and so when we were so far below them for the first ~2 months of the season I just assumed that the coach was in the wrong. Well, something a little more nuanced than that, but I was chiefly directing the blame at the rookie head coach who couldn't seem to run any sort of functioning offence.

It turns out, rather unsurprisingly, that someone who spent years and years as an assistant under one of the greatest coaches of all time and made it through our hiring process actually deserved more than 2-3 months on the job before the pitchforks came out. But the rational fan isn't always the dominant one.

Gotta give credit where credit is due. Ime was really good tonight. Getting Pritchard and Theis into the game early on. Pritchard was especially good with 8pts, 6rebs, 2ast in 16 mins. Timeouts were on point and the only 2 guys that played more than 35mins were JB and JT. Have an extra rest day, which is huge. Team had a good balance of 3pt shooting and scoring in the paint. Great job.

At some point you have to blame the performance on the court on the players on the court. Every loss is not the coach's fault and every win isn't because of the players.

I won't be surprised if they go with even more Pritchard throughout the series. He can match Curry's crazy change of direction better than most, maybe even Smart.

PP is good vs players that dont really overpower or outspeed him. His smarts and effort can get him by. Its players like Butler or say Morant that Im gonna be worried about.

It's huge that the Warriors don't really have anyone that can pick on Pritchard. Even better, Steph is the Warriors best player and I don't worry about Pritchard on him at all (at least, no more than I ever worry when Steph is on the court).

Some of the in-game adjustments in the 2nd and 4th quarters were great. Chiefly came through some different lineups. Nice work coach - you were making me rage in the third quarter!

It almost feels like every game is a microcosm of the Celtics season.

I've put forward some historically bad takes in this thread and couldn't be happier to be proven wrong by Ime. As his team grew, so has his coaching.

As far as I’m concerned the more bad takes I and others put in this thread, the more Ime and the team is fuelled to prove them wrong. That’s my justification for some of my braindead hot takes whilst seeing red.

4th quarter saved his job for now.  I hear he has at least until halftime of Game 2.

Well, we got the bad Ime tonight. Kerr had his team prepared and a strategy, Udoka did not. He got throughly outcoached. Warriors are playing 6’6” Draymond Green at Center for a good portion of the game and the C’s settle for jump shots. Think Boston was in the bonus only one of the quarters. Celtics should have been taking it to the rim much more often. They only had 32 points in the paint. Have no idea why Horford didn’t go into the game until the 3 minute mark in the 4th,  especially when Rob was limping around out there for half the quarter…Also, how are you allowing Smart to Jack up 9 shots from 3pt? Completely ridiculous.

The biggest adjustment we need to make is not dropping our bigs in the PnR coverage.  It is killing us time and time again and yet we keep doing it.  The screeners on GS in some cases aren't even rolling to the basket - they're just setting screens to get Curry open.  Far too often Timelord or Al are getting caught in no man's land.  Need to pick up the ball higher.

I also did not like Ime subbing out Horford for White so early in the 1st and 3rd quarters.  It was about 5 minutes into the quarter each time.  We did not play well with White on the floor this game, and Al really never got into a rhythm because of it.
