I’m sorry, but the C’s won in spite of Ime tonight. He nearly cost them the game, again. Terrible coaching down the stretch.
But we would have had no chance without his defensive schemes. Cuts both ways

Ime's defensive schemes allowed Jimmy Butler to score 82 points in games 6 & 7 against us.
No adjustments, no doubles, no traps, just keep throwing good ol' DPOY Marcus Smart, playing on one foot, out there and hope for the best.
I'm sorry, but Ime was awful these last two games and we won in spite of the guy. You were as critical of him as anyone, Gouki.

It is silliness to say that we won in spite of Ime. Just silliness.

We won with Butler going off in this one, did we not? He also scored less than in G6. Indicative of an adjustment to me

You may want to back up on that comment Gouki.

Butler scores 35 instead of 47 and we played him better ???
Giving up 35 points to anyone but maybe Wilt Chamberlain is still a defensive failure. And ... there were zero adjustments on the court that I saw. Just kept playing him with one hobbled defender and sometimes with Derrick White. Ime just sat there and watched the guy eat us alive. You were criticizing Ime for the same thing, No ???????

We were no longer making the same defensive mistakes (Smart mistakenly iced screens last game, for example), and our defence of Lowry, Strus, Vincent and Oladipo was much better in G7 in adjusting to the moving screens set by Adebayo.

We held them to 6/30 shooting from three when they went 15/35 last time - you don't think that's a coaching adjustment?

Ime is just never make some happy. Some were against him from the start and just need to rail on the guy, regardless of his results, regardless about how wrong they are.......about NBA Finals coach.......Ime Udoka.

Congrats coach. You have been pretty amazing all around but even moreso for a guy that was never a head coach before.

As much as I believe he’s done a fantastic job with the team defensively (Some of this might just be changes in personnel btw getting rid of the liability of Kemba, getting Al back, adding White, both Williams ascent, and not playing Theis because Brad had multiple top defensive teams with much less lol), but the way he coached us down the last 3 minutes of that game was some of the worst NBA coaching I have seen. I honestly believe he may have been fired if he lost this Game 7.

He alone almost blew the game letting us run down the clock and not having something drawn up for when they come to double on Tatum. People are complaining about Smart shooting a lot, but those plays down the stretch were basically drawn up so that he would get open 3s.

That challenge was horrific too, better to just keep your TO for last minute playcalling.

This has me worried when you are going up against a coach like Kerr and a team like GS.

The idiotball stuff isn't anything new.

Part of why it was so frustrating to watch them 2019-2021. Brown, Smart and Tatum were Edited.  Profanity and masked profanity are against forum rules and may result in discipline.ting the bed despite being so talented.

I guess Ime also failed against the Bucks.  Giannis averaged 33.9pts,14.7reb, and 7.1assists against the Celtics leading up to the Heat series.  I think this team is driving toward #18 and Ime is behind the wheel.

It seems like some of us have/had a lot of respect for Miami and Jimmy Butler. Others were talking about how average this team was. It's all about perspective. I'm psyched that the Celtics are back in the finals after two long, grueling series. Let's go Celtics!

We’ll just forget that Jimmy only had 9 points in the 2nd half. That’s a pretty convenient point for you to leave out to help prove what ever vendetta you have against Ime.

EDIT: 11 points. Math is a struggle this morning.

Udoka divulged that he finished second in numerous head-coaching searches before the Celtics hired him this past offseason.

According to Chris Haynes of Yahoo Sports, Udoka said:

"The one thing I would say is the disappointment of coming in second a few years really hurt. But if you told me I'd have to wait for Boston and get [bypassed] by some of the ones that I got beat out on, it's a no-brainer for me. I'm happy to be in Boston.”

"You really want me to tell you? Detroit, Indiana, Cleveland. I can go down the list. That was tough because I believe I was ready. But I couldn't be more proud to be a part of an organization that's pushing for winning and championships. You can be in a lot of different situations. There are only 30 teams and I get that, but to not be in a rebuild and being in an expectation pressure-filled situation, I wouldn't trade that in any day."

Ime has made a Finals in his first year as HC. Numerous players and personnel have praised him not just from the C's but around the league, and he holds guys accountable in a way that Brad never could (but not in a mean/harsh/negative way either). His team is also 7-2 on the road this postseason, 6-0 coming off a loss and also 2-0 in big Game 7s including one against the best player on the planet (Giannis)

It was a rocky start and the criticism may have been somewhat warranted. It wasn't all his fault but some blame could go to him. But man, what a turnaround! I'm glad the C's also stayed patient in the whole process. I mean, if this were the Lakers hell they may have fired him after January lol.
