Free agent guard Joe Johnson is signing a 10-day deal with the Boston Celtics, sources tell ESPN. Johnson is returning to the franchise that drafted him 20 years ago and is expected to play tonight vs. Cleveland.

Celtics sign Joe Johnson!

If he plays, will this be some sort of record of number of years in between appearances for a certain team? Has anyone ever played a game for a team and then play their next game for that team almost 20 years later?

He might now be the oldest player in the league at 40.  :-X

At some point you have to blame the performance on the court on the players on the court. Every loss is not the coach's fault and every win isn't because of the players.

So we wouldn't sign IT but we bring back 40 year old Iso Joe?

I would imagine it has gotta be, especially since the number of players that show up in NBA game 20 years after they debuted is very small.  First few names that I think of:

Kevin Willis - 10 seasons between Atlanta appearances
Jason Kidd -  11 seasons between Dallas appearances
Chris Webber - 14 seasons between Warriors appearances

After 18 months with their Bigs, the Littles were: 46% less likely to use illegal drugs, 27% less likely to use alcohol, 52% less likely to skip school, 37% less likely to skip a class

Looks about right for what we should expect tonight.  But I guess you never know.

What a colossal mess that draft turned into.

I hope he gets to play some minutes vs the Cavs, just to see why he was even signed. I did read that he won consecutive MVPs in the BIG 3 so maybe he still has something left in the tank.

The Celtics weren't granted injury exceptions until after IT was signed.  Also, PG is the only position that's not down a man.

Maybe it's like a player coach thing. Joe has seen a lot of schemes/systems he has always been a decent player in all the different styles.
