Ending the Small ball Nonsense

 When the roster was determined last year many people here were coming up with the best starting fives.

 The best and most talented starting five was blatantly obvious but any poster to put down this lineup was ridiculed immediately. 

 This lineup may be the only salvation and hope for the celtics this year.  I do need to know exactly how many minutes this five has played together,  but they have absolutely dominated the opposition when all healthy and playing together.

 Plus 20 per 100 possessions I believe the announced said during the Warriors game. You can guess it before I tell you.  I'm so tired of this small ball crap.

If two of your best five players are bigs, you start them together! It's not rocket science!

Brown
Smart

 A lineup with virtually no holes. Last year when this was brought up. Horford can't play PF! Timelord can't shoot! You can't switch every position!
 Blah, Blah, Blah, absolute nonsense. 

 It's your best five it should be our starting five every night they are all healthy.  End Small ball.

Actually, going by net rating for lineups used over 25 minutes this season, our best lineup by a longshot is a small ball lineup of:

Schroder, Smart, JRich, Tatum and Timelord. 39 minutes played +45.5 net rating.

The starting lineup of:

Smart, Brown, Tatum, Horford Timelord. 87 minutes played. +20.6 net rating

At over 20 minutes played two great lineups have been:

Smart, Brown, Tatum, Grant, Timelord. 22 minutes played. +35.3 net rating

Smart, Langford, JRich, Tatum, Horford. 21 minutes. +32.8 net rating

The rest of the lineups have too little minutes played to be considered, IMO.

So, there is proof that both small and 2 big lineups can be highly successful, depending upon who is in each lineup

Until players start rebounding or blocking shots with their heads, their height tells you less than their standing reach. Other factors that matter are weight, leverage, footwork, and skill. Al and Rob just are not undersized.
