ugh I tend to agree. Without a major shakeup this team is doomed for mediocrity.

I'd rather tank than be .500, lose in the first round, and end up at the bottom of the lottery year after year.

See- Atlanta Hawks 2007-2014. Enough to make playoffs and get bounced early each year.

Unfortunately for us this draft is not deep nor is it good. Two or three players at the top then about 5 more decent players (and I'm sure a couple more will sneak in as it's still early Dec). After that it's a dud. So unless we get a top 8 pick (ain't happening unless Brown and Tatum sit) it's not worth tanking but we shall see how this team looks a couple weeks before the trade deadline.

Side note: before everyone says "no one knows if this draft is any good" I did say last years draft was very good with about 10-12 players being legit. So I got lucky, right? I'll still stay by my statement about this next draft.

If that's true then we should consider dealing for picks 2 and 3 years from now and also young players with high upside.

The Coach is the problem….this team is more talented and deeper than last year.

This guy, Ime, can’t get the most out of these players.

Team is not trash….Ime has them playing like trash.

Time to blow up this core. Keep one of JT or JB and everything else is for sale.

The players literally forced out the GM and prior coach and signed off on this coach. It’s the players and always has been.

I wouldn’t mind making some major moves to acquire an all star level player, but that likely means trading Brown.  I wouldn’t mind that, but I suspect his trade value has fallen.

This is boring, but I think the best thing to do is trade away Schroder and Richardson, maybe even Smart, for draft picks.  Smart might be able to get a mid first, the others might get a late first or more likely multiple seconds each.  That will provide more draft capital and give Langford, Nesmith, and Pritchard significant playing time.

Then ride ride out the year with what we have.  We’ll get a better idea of the ability of the young guys.  We’ll have more time to assess Brown and Tatum’s ability to play together.  Ime will have more time to prove himself and for Stevens to evaluate him.

After the season there will be hard decisions to make.  Possibly, blow up the team where likely everyone but Tatum will be available and hire a different coach.  Hire a veteran coach who can work with Stevens to imagine and create a new vision for the team.

This is not an easy fix. It seems like the chemistry on the court is constantly off and who's fault is that?  You can't necessarily blame Jaylen this time around because he's been hurt since everything started really going south. If you recall they played really well in that game in Miami when he got hurt and it looked like things were trending in the right direction.

You also have to consider that mediocre teams lose on the road - a lot. And this team is on a west coast swing minus key players in every game.

Finally if you make the wrong move - say you deal one of the star players for KAT who's never won in his life and it doesn't change anything - then you're on a spiral to a total rebuild.  Not sure Wyc and Co are on board for that given that they had to have taken a financial hit during the pandemic when there were no fans at games.

This is basically a .500 team, likely to become a sub .500 team if injuries persist.  Stuck in the mediocre middle.

If I'm the owner I'm looking to my GM and Coach and telling them - time for you gentlemen to step up.

Is Horford a negative asset at the trade deadline? I feel like he could really help some teams he wouldn’t be owed that much at the deadline.

I was thinking he was a negative asset which is why I didn’t mention him, but you may be right.  Although, it will be difficult to trade him this season because of what he’s earning and needing to match salaries.  I think it will be easier after the season.

We have a new coach and Brown, our number 2/1 has missed more then half the games with injuries as well as piecing together new parts like Horford and others. Lets at least wait for our team to regain full strength before Joe Johnsoning everyone.

If the media is covering us and overreacting as well, I expect Tatum to leave at first chance he gets. Who wants to play with a microscope attached to your backside. Unbearable…find a place where they will let you grow into the force you destined to become and if not Boston, there are plenty of places to choose from.

The Boston Sports Fan Melodrama.
'I was proud of Marcus Smart. He did a great job of keeping us together. He might not get credit for this game, but the pace that he played at, and his playcalling, some of the plays that he called were great. We obviously have to rely on him, so I’m definitely looking forward to Marcus leading this team in that role.' - Jaylen Brown, January 2021

I've been a C's fan for over 30 years.  This team has talent but isn't good.  The Suns were without Booker and Ayton and took it to the C's.  I don't want to hear Brown and Richardson were out.  The Suns are still winning at a high rate without their star players but the C's can't win still having one of the top 15 best players in the game.  The Bucks still win with just Giannis and the C's need to find a way to win with just Tatum.

There is no toughness on this team.  I'm ok with the C's trading anyone not named Brown or Tatum.

The Cs should use the TPE on Dejounte Murray.  Not only is he an upgrade in talent but he is an enticing asset to use in a trade for an established star.

The Cs should then look for players with actual offensive talent.  There is no reason for teams to defend the 3 against the Cs unless Tatum is the one taking the shot.

Celtics have played the most road games in the NBA at 17. The vast majority of the league has played 14 or less road games.

The C's have also played the 6th hardest schedule in the league thus far.

All this with one of their top players, a top 25-28 player in the league, missing half their games due to injury.

And this while still trying to get settled in with a new coach and dealing with other injuries from top 8 players like Horford missing 4 games and Timelord and Richardson missing 7.

Given the circumstances, I'm okay being 13-14. The schedule gets dramatically easier after the first week of January. Get healthy and I think this team will go on an extended winning streak moving up in the ECF standings

Patience people.

The problem is the organization gave them a coach that they want, not the one that they need. Players shouldn't have much say on the coaching staff. And there's no continuity from the previous ones as they were all booted out as well.
