I've watched as a casual fan 1983 to 1990, as a more serious fan 1991 to 1995, and as an almost-never-miss-a-game fan 1996 to now.

1963 on. 69 championship was the greatest upset in NBA history.

Russell is the GOAT.

My first games were of the 1974 Celtics in the playoffs vs the Knicks at 9 years old. Fell in love with the game over the next couple years as the Bruins(my first sporting love) traded Espo and let Orr go, so my winter sport became basketball and the Celtics.

Listened to Johnnie Most on a transitor radio under my pillow for years. Almost all of my early television memories of the C's were of games on my parents huge 17" black and white TV. Man we were poor.

Btw, when I started watching NBA in 2007 ...

I watched a bunch of different teams. And the Celtics stood out to me.

Not because of the big 3.

But because of this little point guard dude. Everyone was talking about the 3, but I saw this little dude with a weird head, and weird moves, make crazy passes.

Loved it.

Rondo fan first and foremost. He's my favourite player.

So I chose to root for the Celtics :D not because of Pierce, KG and Rayray, but because of Rajon Rondo :D

1985, when I was 10, was when I really started to follow it and identify with the Cs. I’d watched before that but was too young to really get into it. So just on 36 years now  :police:

Mid-60's I would see them on the ABC Sunday afternoon broadcasts.
In neighborhood games we played on an 8' goal, I was always Bill Russell.

Then I fell hard for the Celtics during the 1969 playoffs and finals.
They were the old champs who had a mediocre regular season saving themselves for the playoffs.
Game 7 in Los Angeles may still be their all-time greatest win.
I've been in love ever since.

Speaking as one of the old timers, I've been following the Cs for over 60 years.  Started when I played basketball in junior high.

I lived in NYC area and so was a Knick fan for the great years of 1969 and 1973.  I do remember the Celtics-Knicks battles and was impressed by the C's running style.  Moved up to Boston for school in 1976 and adopted the Celtics as my team.  However, those were lean years until Larry Bird came along.  We would turn down the volume on the TV and turn on Johnny Most.

My dad took me to a Celtics/Toronto Huskies game in 1947

When I was first married, my wife and i both worked in Boston....I remember during the Celtics/Lakers finals walking up to the box office and getting tickets for that night....saw Baylor go for 60+
