I am a born and raised upstate - NYer. KG's intensity and the '08 run really brought me to love the NBA, and what that team stood for. Haven't missed a game since. I vividly remember the '09 run. The crazy bulls series, Big Baby's buzzer beater in Orlando, and constantly wondering if KG would be back for the playoffs.

My dad took me to a Celtics/Toronto Huskies game in 1947

When I was first married, my wife and i both worked in Boston....I remember during the Celtics/Lakers finals walking up to the box office and getting tickets for that night....saw Baylor go for 60+

Season ticket holder for most of Bird's career
Before 1980 or so, getting a ticket at the box office on the day of the game for any of the baseball, basketball and football games in town was really easy. I remember dozens of times going with my friends on Saturdays and Sundays and getting bleacher tickets for just a couple bucks after taking the subway to Fenway. Dad took me to some Celtic games pre-Bird for next to nothing buying tix at the box office on Sundays or the occasional night game. And the Pats were giving away tickets during this era.

I was at a couple of the 1960's games but don't remember them all that well. I remember Big Red and the 74-75 championship really well. My sister even attended Dave Cowens Basketball camp and I got to shake Cowens had as a boy. Bird coming in as a rookie. The horrible 90's. the return 2008...

2002 comeback game against the Nets is what hooked me to the game. After that I pretty much idolized Paul Pierce and was obsessed with the game of basketball; would put my basket al hoop above my trampoline and try to reenact some of the crazy stuff I would see these guys do out there.

So it’s weird to think about but I guess I’ve been a Celtic fan for like 20 years now. And to quote John Locke from Lost - “It’s never been easy!”

started following the C's Bird's rookie year.  got to see greatness unfold
Same here. It was '81 (what a time to start, esp the Sixers playoff series). Some great basketball that year. Then the finals vs. Moses in his prime (hated seeing him on the Sixers) and little Calvin Murphy who was smaller than our own Tiny.

sounds like you missed the 79-80 season which was Bird's rookie year.  seeing the torch passed from Cowens in his final year with the C's to Bird was something to experience.  The heartbreak of the playoffs that year - C's not getting to the finals was crushing.  was so looking forward to a back-to-back Bird/Magic fight for a championship in college and the pros

Since 1966, Russell's first season as player coach.

55 years.   Lot's a memories.  Johnny Most got me hooked in 5th grade.

I remember vividly that first game on the radio, and especially Chris Ford hitting the NBA's first 3 point shot!

I think I started watching Celtics just as the big 3 ended, around 2012-2013. Went to a small school, where all the boys loved basketball. Honestly just started watching it just to fit in, but I ended up falling in love with basketball and the C's.

First game I was a young boy with his dad, it was 1963 at the Rhode Island Auditorium, a preseason game. Russell did a two-handed stuff, I swear the rim was around his knees!

I became a Celtic fan in the early 1960's.....prior to that I was a very young Laker fan and Baylor was my here...I got to see the Lakers play the Syracuse Nat's here in Rochester, NY in 1961...once I saw the light I became a rabid Celtics fan...my best friend was in sales working for Master Lock in the early 80's when they were an NBA sponsor...so he got complimentary "house seats" on the floor behind the visitors bench in the old garden...loved seeing the games in those seats...later in life I became friends with JoJo White (his wife Debbie was from Rochester and worked for me for a couple of Years)....he was a true gentleman and I got to meet Cedric Maxwell, Sam Jones, Tommy Heinsohn, and a few other legends during a weekend charity event...I bleed Celtic Green to this day...!

1975 for sure, might have been a bit before that, but I remember 75 and the triple overtime game against the Suns.

Started watching them in 1977, when they were pretty pitiful.  Fortunes changed in a big way a short while later.
