Smart, eh? Ironic name for a guy who’s made two idiotic intentional fouls in our last two losses. He clearly never studied probabilities in school.

... he fouled someone that was gonna have a layup. Really not stupid at all.

The stupid Smart foul was the game!

Yeah, Smart isn't the guys to point at tonight lol

Yeah he did his job, he had 2 points!!

Seriously? ONE stat?

Just gonna ignore the 8 assists, 5 steals?

Come on now.

So its a bad loss. I'm still pretty optimistic on this team. The defense has been lights out the last 6 or so games and has moved into the top 10 defenses overall and the offense will get better because A) Brown will return soon, maybe as soon as Monday? and B) Tatum will eventually start hitting shots. He has to.

Overall a lot of the stuff on the edges is going right. Horford has been good. Shroder has been good. Langford/Grant have chipped in. Williams has been great. Jrich has had his moments. Defense is clicking. Just need our all-star back and our all-nba guy to hit shots.

Interesting that you conveniently left out his 8 assists, 5 steals, 4 rebounds, + 12 +/-, and stellar all-around defense and play.
Recovering Joe Skeptic, but inching towards a relapse.

Ya Smart was fine, good even on the game. i dont think it was a "dumb play." I think he got beat by a guy who is a pretty good offensive player. It  happens to the best defenders at times.

Grant Williams starting tonight and playing big minutes was a killer. I knew it was going to be a long night when they announced Horford was out. We can't be a good team if we rely on guys like that for starting caliber contributions.

Bad loss, but we were on the end of a back to back without two of our starters including one of our top 2 players and also one of our key bench guys in Richardson. We ran out of gas and had to rely on poor quality players to step up.

tatum, the “elite” all-star: 8 FG, 2 AST, 4 REB, 36% FG, 12% 3P%, 6 TO, and zero defensive effort.

he’s never gonna be that guy.

Tatum needs his own version of Kevin Garnett to come in the way that Paul Pierce needed him -
though I'm not sure that Tatum has enough hunger and competitiveness in his psyche to start with.

The Four Celtic Generals:
Russell - Cowens - Bird - Garnett

The Four Celtic Lieutenants:
Cousy - Havlicek - McHale - Pierce

What the hell has happened to Payton?

He got figured out halfway through last season.

Remember how he suddenly got less playtime?

He kept getting pressed, and got stuck in the key on every single drive, having picked up the ball.

Payton probably wishes he was playing 40 years ago when there was hardly any video and film session because he may have got through another couple of seasons before getting figured out

Payton in a funk but I wouldn’t give up on him. I think he’ll climb out of it and contribute soon. He’s an elite shooter. He actually played decently defensively tonight.

My worry is more that he's not getting open, and he gets exposed on D
He gets open plenty. Never receives the pass

Where were you the last 3 games with these takes?

three whole games?!?

he played lights-out against the mavs, shot 33% against the raptors, played well against the bucks, and tonight was another complete stinker in all regards. this perfectly demonstrates his problem. year five and he vacillates between great and liability from one game to the next. he’s an inconsistently good player; not great and he never will be.

and let’s not forget the two games prior to these four games:

magic: 14pts, 25% FG, 16% 3P%, 3 AST
heat: 10pts, 23% FG, 2 AST

so, in the last six games he’s had one great game, one good game, one ok game, and three stinkers.

five years in and it’s abundantly clear that tatum is a mentally soft, lazy, privileged, inconsistent, inefficient volume scorer. he’s not someone you build a championship team around. i realize this stirs heated emotions in folks, and i hate it too, but it’s the truth. the sooner brad realizes it, the better off the C’s will be.

Time Lord would’ve contested the shot.

Ehhh, weak argument. Those all star berths weren’t flukes and he was a snub for all-NBA last year. I get it: he’s not shown an MVP-level season. But he’s still been the most impactful player on the floor for this team for more than a few years now.

Chalking this one up to fan nonsense

The coach could always play, oh, I dunno, Enes Kanter.

Williams doesn't do anything well, he's a G-Leaguer where Enes, we know he's an offensive force (especially on the boards) who can create his own shot.

Yup.

Tatum just lucked into being a top wing in the league in his early 20s?

It's after games like this when I have to wonder why Stevens even signed Kanter. He knows Kanter well, he chose Ime as the head coach. Kanter is in his prime and does some things at a high level in the NBA. Sure he can't defend the pick and roll due to limited lateral quickness, but we all knew that before they signed him for a second time. They could sure use the rebounding and inside scoring that he brings.

Grant playing is not a problem. He's an elite shooter for a guy who can defend bigger players.

Parker playing ahead of Kanter is nonsense though
