You get Ball to play with Tatum, not for Tatum.
Would Tatum work with Ball?
The question is what is Tatum? He's been groomed as a ball dominant scoring machine. The ball dominant part seems like a problem. He gets compared a lot to Durant, but can he be like Durant, and be a spectacular scorer while allowing someone else to make lots of the decisions?
I think the C's have screwed up here. Tatum is a monster scorer, but now he has deeply baked in bad habits. He's an OK decision maker, but he's been a primary ball handler for several years. He's going to improve, but he just doesn't have the innate talent of an elite playmaker. He never will. And because of that, the C's are a mediocre playmaking team.
I'd rather have Tatum if he could adapt to handing over a chunk of the playmaking to someone better at it. Its really frustrating we haven't tried to get that player. I don't see us winning a title if he's the primary decision maker. And I don't know if he's the same scorer off the ball.
