Brown is too good of a player to allow himself to be taken out of the game.
This is so true. Just run a pick and roll, it can't be that hard.
For all the criticisms of your-turn-my-turn with JT and JB, it's not a bad option for them to do that crunchtime. I'll take a JT or JB pick and roll or post up or even iso over all of our other options.
The problem is Tatum and Brown haven't been good enough ball handlers to handle the pick and roll when the opponent is double teaming them. It's been an automatic turnover, especially for Jayson (who's been in those situations a lot more than Jaylen), which is why Brad preferred to ISO Tatum in late game situations.
Run Jaylen off 1-2 screens from the corner to get him a shot at the FT line, where he's money. Place him at one of the wings instead of buried in a corner on the other side of the action. Marcus complained at tonight's presser about it as soon as he was placed there, but Jaylen has been content to let it continue even though he's a premier NBA scorer!
If Ime would've sent in the reserves when the time was right this would be a moot point. All Chicago did was send in their reserves to do to us what we did to have the lead in the first place, force us to play offense in a half court set and run us in transition. They ran out players off the court and all our shots were short, 7 games in and Udoka doesn't seem to trust the reserves aside from Schroder, Richardson, and Grant to a lesser degree.
