Torn on my decision. I think letting Fournier walk was bad but compounding it by giving extension to Smart was a travesty. The Smart extension is the worst of the offseason.

I’m in favor of trading Smart for the right deal and his contract makes that much easier. I also think it’s good optics to extend him.

Fair point on the optics
Why do the optics of extending him matter if they plan on just trading him or using him as trade bait? Should have just traded him last trade deadline and avoided the extension scenario. Think Smart is a big reason why this team the last two years has been flat. He's the "captain" but he doesn't lead and he's not a great o overall basketball player  and they basically handed him $20 mil per.

The whole move to trade Moses Brown for JR and then worse , extend him ,  the keep lazy no shot making  Smart , dump Fournier who can shoot lights out . Boom …we back where we were , no body but Tatum and Brown who can be relied on the make buckets all game.  Gives us three guards who are a joke or a non offensive threat . Non reliable shooters .

He started off good ,  Kemba trade for Al and Brown ….was good

Schroeder was a decent gamble ,  Parker ok for the cheap was ok…But how about using him to score when nobody else can make a bucket …ugh

Most was a failure and more small guys WHO can’t shoot worth beans ….need tall guys at every position what can score a bucket.

Smart is awful at point guard and can’ shoot worth a crap to even be called a shooting guard.

Smart is a non shooting defensive role player who should come off the bench at various times in a game. …..use him like this or trade him.

I’m for giving the new coach more time and better players before recalling Doc off Philly

Extending Richardson doesn't bother me. He may yet be a decent contributor. I'm not a fan of the Smart extension.

Jury is very much out on the coach. So far it's a mixed bag but we have to give him time.

Early grade..average.  Players seem to want to play for him. Rotations are a mess and as crap coaches often do, he's overused his best players at the expense of developing his depth.

But it has only been 6 games.

Hiring himself as GM. Got I'd wish Celtics ownership would throw a boatload of cash at a real GM. Masai is my choice.

At the time, my favorite move was signing Schroder, my least favorite was not signing Fournier, and I was pretty happy with Ime.  I liked the Richardson trade as a depth move, because I foolishly thought that he was going to be in addition to Fournier, not his replacement.  I was looking forward to seeing Marcus as a PG.  As I recall, I wasn't thrilled with either of the extensions (Marcus and Richardson), because that blew up the possibility of cap room and made moving on from Fournier even dumber.  I did like the dollar figure on the Timelord extension, because there's a good shot that he outperforms that deal.

And, 6 games in, I still feel pretty much the same way.  Every move we made would look a lot better if we signed Fournier.  I wish we had added an experienced head coach as an assistant to Ime, but I think he'll be fine.  The moves that scare me are the pointless extensions, which could handicap this team in the future.

Only 6 games in, 8 out of 17 new players from last year with 3 in the Top MPG, rookie HC hired in July, and most players in a shooting funk. BKN, ATL, MIL, BOS, and IND are in the bottom 8 in the Eastern Conference.

A few of our players have had good individual games, but we haven’t played well as a team. This is real time doom and gloom garbage. This team will play better, win, the roster moves will look better, and this thread won’t age well.

Except for not signing Fournier.  That one is always going to look bad.  🇫🇷 🏀

Horford has been one of our best players thus far. The Kemba trade was a home run when you factor in salaries.

Think the Richardson extension will be justified. Don’t like the Smart extension.

Losing Fournier really hurts us. I think we’d be 5-1 right now instead of 2-4. Knicks game and both Wiz games we would have won with Fournier.

maybe maybe not.  Who is Fournier playing for and which Fournier are you getting?  I mean 2 of Fournier's last 4 games he has shot under 29% (from the field and 3) and when he isn't shooting well he is a big time detriment.
2025 Historical Draft - Cleveland Cavaliers - 1st pick

Starters - Luka, JB, Lebron, Wemby, Shaq
Rotation - D. Daniels, Mitchell, G. Wallace, Melo, Noah
Deep Bench - Korver, Turner

There is no Maybe regarding the Knicks game.  Obviously we would have won that with him.

29% from 3?  For a team that shot 7% from 3 last game?  That's 4 X better. We win that one too.  You can say maybe regarding the first Wiz game.
