Why are the players talking about effort just two games into the season?  :o That doesn’t bode well going forward considering the coaches biggest attribute was to motivate them. I assume people have low expectations for this team?

It's the opposite - great expectations with a new coach and new additions to the roster.  To say today's awful performance was deflating is an understatement.

Got home, turned on Gamecast, Saw the Score, Went to Kitchen and mixed a Crown,

What happened ?

Biggest issues were turnovers and inability to rebound.  Add that to questionable rotations from Ime and getting outplayed and you have a 30 point blowout.

Outcoached two games in a row Ime.  I don't want excuses, you have NBA coaching experience.  Do better.

i think the turnovers and rebounding woes were mere symptoms of more grievous concerns. i wholeheartedly agree coaching is one of the larger issues, along with a serious lack of effort.

the c’s were straight up manhandled by a much less talented team tonight and the c’s didn’t show any fight or give-a-[dang]. turnovers and rebounding can be corrected. the problems the c’s are demonstrating are much tougher to cure…and they’re not new to this group of players. new season, new coach, new gm, same result. the j’s are the constant and their status is in serious doubt.

I thought Tatum and Brown were way over the top with enthusiasm when Ime was named Coach.

They are not playing any harder for him than they did for Brad.

That's the risk when you hire a best buddy to coach the players.

Have to admit, I’m not a fan of the Celtics being used as a training ground for a new coach to cut his teeth.

But the Celtics felt sooooo good for being progressive and hiring one of the long-ignored black assistants in the league.
Please don't tell me we hired this guy to fall in line politically.

I can't believe everyone is already throwing Ime under the bus.  This is only the 2nd game of the season.  The first we nearly won in double overtime without Al Horford.  Raptors whipped our butts tonight. It happens.  The Heat whipped the world champ Bucks last night.  We played about our worst, Jaylen was awful and Jayson was below average.

i think the concerns are legitimate and they’re not due to the losses. the way we lost both games and the coaching decisions by ime are the real concerns. he’s not making in-game adjustments, his personnel rotations are atrocious and he’s not making changes when the rotations are clearly not working, and he’s not working the refs at all. the team doesn’t seem prepared for games and i cannot seem to decipher the offensive game plan. the C’s don’t seem to be exploiting mismatches or riding the hot hand.

these are just a few examples but they’re very concerning, even for a first year coach. with an embarrassing lack of effort from the “stars” tonight, i would expect ime to chew some serious ass and remove guys from the game when they’re not hustling and playing atrociously. but nope, high-fives all around!

It’s two games into the season. RELAX.

I don’t really understand why? Management basically said last summer that this year was a throwaway hoping to go after a big fish next summer. Al Horford is the “leader” on this team. Tatum is supposed to be but do he have it in him?

i get your point but i’d like to see a little fight from the C’s. no one seems to be bothered by the losing or lack of effort.

Sounds like a good game to miss out on watching live. Now that I've adequately prepared myself for disappointment after reading through the (entertaining) game thread, I can sit back and watch my DVR in a dispassionate frame of mind to see how trash they were

If there's a silver lining, at least this type of effort manifested itself in Game 2 - hopefully Ime nips it in the bud right away.

That's them trying to lower expectations because they know that this hiring was a gamble, we as fans should be holding them to where standards should be: a significant improvement from the underperformance we were served last season. What's the point of hiring 'one the brightest young coaching minds in the league' and 'going back to our DNA' if we're not going to play up to our talent level?

Hopefully Dwight destabilizes them the way that Ben is destabilizing the Sixers and Cryrie destabilizing the Nets...we need all the help we can get  :police:

Also for those of you who watched it, anyone know why Nesmith only got 4 min? I would have thought that someone like him would have been able to generate some intensity and energy for the team.

Seemed to be entirely a coaching decision. Lord only knows why

Awful Coaching once again....Needed some toughness in there, Raps were getting away with all kinds of crap...Bruno and Jauncho might have helped.
