Kevin Porter Jr played 29 mins and had 25 pts, 5ast, 4reb. Shot 9-16 from the field and 5-9 from 3pt. Best player on either team in tonight’s game.

So glad the C’s held on to Tacko, Waters, Edwards, And Green instead of giving him a shot. Well played.
That's what this team really needed. One of the worst teammates in the NBA

Guess his coach would disagree with you.

From last season:

“KP was good,” head coach Stephen Silas said after practice. “He played point; he pushed the ball up the floor in our scrimmage. He makes plays for others. He’s a willing learner. Great kid. Just enjoyable to be around. To have that fresh face in the group is exciting for me.”

“It’s a developmental thing,” Silas said of Porter’s outlook with the Rockets. “The game isn’t going to be as easy as it came for him in the G League. But I think he is prepared, over time, to excel. He has a lot of tools that we will explore and use. He’s going to be good for us.”

One coach out of his last three that hasn't kicked him off the team. Forgive me if I don't celebrate that.

He has Brandon Jennings and OJ Mayo written all over him to me.

Do you believe that the incidents that occurred when he was 19 or 20 years old define him? I like to think that people can learn from their mistakes and grow as they age, but maybe that’s just me.
If there was any evidence of him actually growing, then sure. Token words from his coach are meaningless. He has to have at least 12 months of no incidents for me to have any faith in him turning it around.

Another incident from Kevin Porter Jr, as he left the arena at hafltime following some sort of altercation with a coach.

https://sports.yahoo.com/houston-rockets-kevin-porter-christian-wood-heated-exchange-left-arena-assistant-coach-denver-nuggets-loss-054206083.html

Not to mention he's shooting worse than Smart this year, without any of the positives.

There's no doubt the Bulls look good and DeRozan has been a beast lately. But man, are the Bulls actually going to finish with a Top-3 seed in the East or will they fall a bit later this season? Same with Cleveland, a team hovering between the 3-5 seeds but have remained there for the most part.

Nearly halfway into the season so this isn't some "small sample size" either. Could make the East very interesting. I don't think many expected the Bulls, Cavs and Wizards to all keep it up after their hot starts but so far only the Wiz have fallen a bit and even they are still an 8 seed currently.
The Bulls are absolutely going to finish in the top 5, but then they are going to get beaten and beaten badly in the playoffs and everyone is going to wonder what happened, when the simple reality is, they are built to be a regular season team and not a playoff team.  They will basically be the DeRozan led Toronto Raptors i.e. a deep team that can handle the grind of the season better then most teams, but come playoff time when rotations shorten, their lack of a real superstar will be a gigantic hole they won't be able to overcome.

Cavs will start to fall off, but should make the playoffs after their start.  They are young and young teams often have that mid-season swoon, especially since very few of the key players on that team have even gone through a full 82 game schedule.  Garland, Mobley, and Allen is a very nice trio though and are an excellent building block.  Plus, they still have Markkanen, Okoro, and whatever happens with Sexton.  Cavs are in a very good place long term.  This is not going to be their year though, but making the playoffs could be a nice learning experience, much like the Grizzlies last year.

Bigs - Pau, Amar'e, Issel, McGinnis, Roundfield
Wings - Dantley, Bowen, J. Jackson

I would argue that Lavine and Demar both have games that are built for the playoffs. It is also worth pointing out, while it is very unusual for his age, derozen has continued to evolve his game. He shoots a respectable 37% on threes on 2.2 attempts. His career high in Toronto was 33% and other years was between 26%-31%. This development will certainly help during the playoffs. Caruso abs Ball also seem like good role players for the postseason. As of now lavine and derozen are both playing like all nba players. I don’t think they would beat the nets or bucks (without injuries). But think they could beat anyone else in east (much like Utah in the west).

I wonder if the Cavs stumble a bit if they'd be interested in Westbrook.  He'd sell tickets and while he would dominate the ball, it would be for a 1.5 seasons at most.  It would be an interesting dynamic.

Cleveland - Westbrook
Lakers - Love, Rubio

The Lakers could then shift Rubio for someone else, like maybe Eric Gordon or someone like that, giving the team acquiring Rubio future salary relief while the Lakers get a usable player this year.

The Cavs would need to fall back a bit to risk taking on Westbrook, but I think that would be an interesting move for them and Garland/Westbrook as a backcourt would be unguardable (at least until Russ takes a terrible shot, ha).

Couldn't the Cavs just flip Rubio for something else themselves? Or Rubio and Sexton if a team wants his contract?

Sure, but then they still have Love.  That trade gets them out of Love without attaching an asset.  They still then have Sexton.  Again I don't think they'd do it if they continue along like they have been, but if they start losing, I could absolutely see why they might do something like that.

I think Cleveland is better off without Sexton and Westbrook is even more Sexton than Sexton is.   A guy like that will change the whole dynamic of the team and probably negatively affect Garland's development.  Rubio was taking a lot of shots this year but he's never been a "me" guy.  I think Westbrook makes that team worse.

Ja Morant has to be the quickest/most explosive player in the NBA. His ability to blow by defenders to get to the rim is comparable to prime Derek Rose. Really impressive...

These guys always scare me. Because an injury will take it all away. Knock on wood.

Related, what is wrong with the nets? They have been awful for a bit now. Apparently they get irving back Wednesday.
