Seems like there might be a fire sale/exodus in Houston. These guys seem like awful character guys.

Woods seems like something that can happen, and I don’t think he is a repeat offender. Porter has had repeated issues everywhere he went. Let’s not forget how his time in Cleveland ended “

“Kevin Porter Jr. only has himself to blame. He wrecked a car because he was driving recklessly, he had a handgun on him that his mother took the wrap for, he threatened to kill a man on camera, and he’s accused of assaulting a woman. All that in a span of a few months. That wouldn’t be the end of his issues, however. Apparently, Porter had a blow-up with Cavalier officials after the most recent win over the Knicks. The Cavs are no longer having any of this and according to The Athletic, have decided to move on from Porter.”

I wouldn’t be surprised if Porter was sent his walking papers again. I remember some people were upset the Celtics didn’t take a flier on this guy, but throwing stuff at coaches and driving out of the stadium mid game isn’t something I can ever recall a celtic doing. Did we ever have anyone drive off mid game?
There were numerous posters clamouring for KPJ, saying him being a locker-room problem was a thing of the past. Funny
Too much abiliity to pass up... not many 21 year olds in the entire league have the ability to drive home at halftime.

I don't know how Houston can keep him after this, and also what team would even take another chance at him?

Also Christian Wood may have talent, but I think we're also seeing why he's been on like 6 teams since being Drafted. He's another headcase and Houston fans apparently are saying it's not a surprise and they've known too. He has an ego but because he puts up numbers it gets ignored.

Maybe it's a reason the C's have steered clear of those guys

Houston is a mess.  Intentional tank going on from all levels.  I mean isn't this what everyone was saying about the Sixers during the process i.e. that if you breed a culture of losing, you end up with a culture of losing.

I don't think anyone said him being a locker-room problem was a thing of the past.  It was that if you signed him for the minimum and he acted up, you could just cut him, and thus you take a flyer on the talent for basically no risk.  It was a high reward for no risk situation. That is nowhere near the same thing as saying he wouldn't still have off-court issues.

My gawd. DeMar Derozan is a beast. B2b night game-winning 3. First against Indiana Pacers in front of their crowd, then against the Wizards in D.C.

Crazy.

Yeh.  He's definitely upped his star level in Chicago.  Great acquisition for them.
Yup

I wonder if having wall around could have helped these guys. They have some veterans in theiss and Gordon, but neither of those guys is anywhere close to the pedigree of wall. Wall also seemed to have matured throughout his time in the league and was multitime all star. Probably would have been good to have him around.

They are certainly paying him enough. They could have asked him to at least show up and be a vet mentor to these guys.

Did you see that Ja Morant stat?

Grizzlies are 10-2 without Morant; 9-12 with Morant.
Clearly, Jah needs to be traded because he doesn't fit alongside Bane and Brooks. The win loss record is proof of that.

I am not sure I can roll my eyes enough.

Have you seen Celticsblog with Jaylen and Jayson? ;)

Yeah that's just terrible. Memphis should just trade him to Boston for a draft pick

Maybe a second pick  :)

There's no doubt the Bulls look good and DeRozan has been a beast lately. But man, are the Bulls actually going to finish with a Top-3 seed in the East or will they fall a bit later this season? Same with Cleveland, a team hovering between the 3-5 seeds but have remained there for the most part.

Nearly halfway into the season so this isn't some "small sample size" either. Could make the East very interesting. I don't think many expected the Bulls, Cavs and Wizards to all keep it up after their hot starts but so far only the Wiz have fallen a bit and even they are still an 8 seed currently.

I am surprised somewhat at the Bulls, but they got an influx of talent over the offseason.  They got guys that fit with Lavine and it makes sense.

The Cavs, I have no idea how they are still winning.  I guess Garland is better than most thought, and Allen has kept on improving.  With all that I still wonder if they can still be top 6 at the end of the year??  It doesn't make sense to me.

I don’t think the Bulls are going anywhere. 3 all star caliber players in Lavine, Derozan and Vucevic. Ball is having a very good year too. I doubt Cleveland finishes In the top 5, though.

At some point you have to blame the performance on the court on the players on the court. Every loss is not the coach's fault and every win isn't because of the players.

Yeah at this point acting like the bulls aren’t a good team is just silly. Demar is playing like a top ten player in the nba right now (which is surprising, but he really has kept adding to his game each year even at his age). Him and ball were obviously huge additions, while an underrated one is Caruso. They also haven’t been spared by Covid either with vucevic, lavine missing time. They also have been out a solid big in Patrick Williams. He may return this season. They are probably a very similar team to Utah (who they have a similar record to). When discussing the Cavs something people haven’t mentioned is Mobley who is making a big impact for a rookie.

It's probably the East is going through some weird shift. The Hawks took a big dent this season. Knicks fell a bit off too. The Celtics are inconsistent.

Would be nice to see the Bulls upset the Nets or Bucks

A lot of this is just Covid. Philly was not surprisingly terrible when Embid and Harris and others were out. Knicks and hawks have had Covid running through their teams like crazy. They just got back young after he missed games for Covid but they now have 12 players out with Covid. Knicks have lost rose to injury, had Barrett, Quickley, noel and others out for lengthy periods and are currently y without Robinson and randle (and Kemba with injury). They definitely overachieved last season and maybe their offseason signings were bad, but they have not been done any favors by Covid. Why I was hoping league would have paused for a few weeks.
