If there is a poll already out there regarding this I apologize, but I couldn’t find anything.

I’m curious what people think who is not going to make the team of out the 16 candidates we have now.

Parker’s contract is non guaranteed right now I believe so I would think he would be the easiest to just waive.  However, I’m intrigued by the spark offense he could provide in spot minutes if our offense is dragging, or if one of the Jays is out a game.  A former number 2 pick that has been ravaged by injuries in his career I’d like to keep him for now.

I’m also intrigued by Dunn, another top 5 pick.  There really isn’t much room for him now to get regular minutes, but a mid season 2 for 1 or 3 for 1 type deal might open minutes for him.  His contract around 5 mill might be harder to just dump on a team attaching a pick.  A defensive hound that can add to the remake of our identity.  I’d like to keep him for now.

Fernando is our 4th center now(maybe 5th or 6th if G Williams is ahead there, or going even smaller with Parker at the 5).  However, he showed some promise in the summer league, though only summer league.  With Kanter and Horford possibly only here for the short term I’d like to keep him around for now. I like the intensity he shows on the court.

This leaves Edwards.  I like him, but I’m not sure if he will ever be efficient enough in a Microwave Vinnie Johnson/Eddie House type role.  If we only had 15 guys right now I wouldn’t mind keeping him again, but his contract might be the easiest to move (around 2 mil or so).  Maybe if we waive him, and nobody else signs him we can sign him to our open 2 way spot if that’s allowed.

Grant Williams could be on the fence too, but I think he is a little less likely to be gone than the others considering he has received rotation minutes the past couple years.  You could select the other category for him, or for someone else.

I think there’s going to be a trade before the final roster is set, but without one I think Parker.  Looking at the type of player the Celtics have added this summer (Horford, Richardson, Schröder), he doesn’t seem to fit with that style.  That he’s non-guaranteed makes it all the more likely he’s gone.

Dunn is the least likely to be cut, as his contract is the most useful in a trade.

The easy out is Parker, but I don't think you can cut him with how thin we're at PF... plus I like him.

I think overall Carlsen is the one that might get cut, but I think we're still looking to unload a player somewhere... Dunn most probably. I just don't see us eating his salary, Carlsen is the easy out in this case.

Otherwise if someone like Langford is not cutting it in training camp, I can see him being traded if we have no plans of picking up his option for next season.

Carsen Edwards is the odd man out. I think that Udoka prefers switchable, defensive players. Carsen might be the biggest defensive liability on our team, and he hasn't been a very good offensive player in his short time in the league. Younger players looked better than him in the Summer League.

I liked him at Purdue, but his cup of coffee is empty and there's no free refills.

Really don’t want to see Edwards or Grant Williams on the team this year. Give me Dunn over Edwards and Fernando over Grant. Time to cut the remaining dead weight.

At some point you have to blame the performance on the court on the players on the court. Every loss is not the coach's fault and every win isn't because of the players.

If a big trade does not occur, I can easily see them trying to dump the 6-7m to get under the tax and save a year of repeater tax.

That’s one reason I think Parker is cut.  He saves $2 million now, and if you don’t have a trade at the deadline/aren’t where you want to be in the standings, it’s a lot easier to shed a salary (most likely Dunn) to get under the tax.  Keep Parker and release a guaranteed deal and you’ve got to do more work in February.

To me, it is pretty clear that Carson Edwards is the least useful.  We have a log jam at PG/Combo Guard already.  We can cut him and not have any impact.  Plenty of other options.

GWill has proven to be useful so I don't see him as getting cut.  I see us having a PF rotation shared by Parker, GWill, and Bruno.  That is our weakest group for sure.  Parker's contract (nonguaranteed) give cutting him another dimension but I think he will prove to be useful for maybe 18 min or so as a PF/Swing.

I’m the Dunn vote, but I hope it’s Edwards.

This is why I voted for Dunn.  I think he will be moved.

If Parker can prove to Ime in camp that he can defend adequately, he will stay. If not, they will probably cut him. I hope he makes squad, I like his aggressiveness when he has the ball, and like his size and strength.  Thought he looked good in stints vs Nets in playoffs.

I'd be very surprised if the team isn't doing everything they can to duck the tax this season. It's not the end of the world if they don't, but with how vigilant they've been in recent years, I would guess they wouldn't mind dumping a 2nd and cash to move Dunn/Edwards. I'll be interested to see what they do with Parker. The $100K guarantee he just got is hardly debilitating, but it shows that it isn't a slam dunk that he is gone.

If we do make a move with Dunn and another small salary, we can always wait until sometime during the season to sign a vet a lower pro-rated salary - depending on how close we are to the tax at that point. We'll definitely need another capable two-way player, though.

Edwards. Doesn't appear to be able to play in the NBA. Not streaky enough to be a microwave and defensively challenged.

Cs can decide what to do about the tax before the end of the season. I'd expect they'd duck it unless they look like a contender or can make a deal that could make them one.

I think there could still be multiple changes

Trade Candidates
Dunn, Edwards, Fernando

Release Candidate
Parker

Pending on any other additions I can see Parker being release because of his non guaranteed deal.  I think he'd be a better fit for this roster then Dunn or Edwards.  I think Fernando sticks to have a warm body on the bench who still has some developmental talent.

If I had to stake my guess it would be Dunn because he has a skill NBA teams need.  Edwards has not proven anything other then a deeeeeeeep bench option that I don't think anyone would be interested in taking on unless a 2nd round pick is involved.  I'd rather keep Dunn and Parker over Edwards.  I'd rather the C's move both Dunn and Edwards to free up 1 - 2 spots.  Millsap could be a good backup big for 15 mpg.  Giles is another developmental player and friends with JT.  Redick, Bradley are still out there.  Dennis Smith Jr.  a few intriguing names if a roster spot opens up.
