"The Knicks‘ have turned their free agent agreement with swingman Evan Fournier into a sign-and-trade deal with the Celtics, announcing today in a press release that they’ve officially acquired Fournier and two future second-round picks from Boston in exchange for cash. Fournier received a four-year deal that includes a fourth-year team option and can reportedly be worth up to $78MM.
Turning the transaction into a sign-and-trade will allow the Celtics to create a traded player exception worth Fournier’s first-year salary. That new trade exception will be worth $17.1MM, tweets Adam Himmelsbach of The Boston Globe."
Another TPE
Imo smells like TPE to absorb Bertans contract...to try to entice Wiz to trade Beal to Celts
Don't we already have Howitzer?
Brad likes his vets
But also...need some kind of edge over other teams in Beal sweepstakes
Don't need the TPE if Horford goes to Washington. Horford + Richardson + 1 young player = enough salary to take on both Beal and Bertans. Could also get there keeping Richardson and using Dunn + Langford + Nesmith + 1 other player.
So I think you could do something like this
Horford, Richardson, Nesmith, 22 1st (unprotected), 24 1st (top 4), 26 1st (top 4)
for
Beal, Bertans
then
acquire KCP into the TPE for a 2nd round pick
Final Roster
PG - Schroder, Pritchard, Dunn, Edwards
SG - Beal, Smart, KCP, Langford
SF - Brown
PF - Tatum, Bertans, G. Williams, Fernando or Parker
C - R. Williams, Kanter
Main 9-man rotation would be Schroder, Pritchard, Beal, Smart, Brown, Tatum, Bertans, R. Williams, Kanter. That roster has a lot of flexibility in going big or small, offense or defense, etc.
You acquire KCP for insurance because good chance Smart, Beal, and Brown will miss a bunch of games (since they pretty much always do), though could be done without getting KCP if Boston wanted to have a bit more flexibility in the future.
