I think we need to sign IT to lift the curse. Kyrie burning all that sage in the garden has cast a blight on our lands. The lucky clovers shan’t grow when the soil is poisoned!
On a more serious note:
Players aren’t robots. A reason I’d like to bring in IT (even if he can’t see the floor) is if he can bring some excitement and toughness to the locker room. If he can rouse feelings of loyalty and pride for the franchise. There’s been a lot of bad press the C’s have gotten such as being disloyal, being racist, playing favorites, etc etc. And even if guys aren’t showing it, Ainge stepping down might’ve been a breath of fresh air for the guys.
This lines up to why I liked the Horford trade actually. Kemba might be the better player (overall) but Horford probably brings more non-basketball intangibles (like mentorship, leadership, adversity quotient, communication habits, etc) that a young team needs. We have prospects like JT, JB and TL who, as good as they are, are still developing.
