Lol.

Lol.  Yep.  Let’s bring back Antoine and Pierce.  And Dino.

With the infatuation with triple doubles, there is only one answer...Ricky "Buckets" Davis.

Yup. Maybe fans can stop drinking the green koolaid now and realize what is happening to this team.
This is an unfair post, as are many the last day or two.

We don't know what's going on with the roster and spending at this point. We're just guessing and reacting to rumors, most of which will turn out to be nothing.
Nothing they have done so far this season has been about improving the roster. All moves so far (Kemba/Richardson/TT) have been about dumping salary or getting expiring deals.

I don't understand what some of you guys even want.

Do you want an actual third star who can come here and help us contend?  Because if that's what you want, then we needed to shed that money so we have the cap space to actually make that happen.  We can't make a play for Beal or KAT or whoever else if we're stuck paying Fournier $80M for four seasons.

Or are you content with just throwing money at whoever?  I'll be honest... watching the discourse here over the last week or so makes it seem like more of you want the latter than the former.  We aren't in a position to just s*** out blank checks at random mediocre players.  That's how you end up in Portland's situation, where you blew all of your money and assets on pieces who can't contend and now your superstar is p---ed off.

There are multiple ways to acquire good players.  One of them is developing players that other teams are willing to trade for.

Anthony Davis, James Harden, Kyrie Irving (Boston), Paul George, Kawhi Leonard (Toronto)…. None were acquired with cap space.

Build a good team and then makes trades that improve the team.

The team will get worse before it gets better. We can thank Ainge for that.  Retooling this roster is a multi-year project.

KAT is signed for 3 more seasons. We're only getting him via trade, but we don't have the salaries to match to send out. Resigning Fournier gives you another sizable salary that is tradeable. And there's been no indication that Beal is actually going sign here and we'd have to rip the roster down to the bare studs to sign him outright. Again, having a tradeable salary would be helpful should he come available midseason or Washington shows interest in a facilitating a sign and trade.

As far as throwing money at mediocre players, who is asking for that? We all watched offense be a struggle last season outside of the Jays, why are we turning our nose up at a player who can help there because he's asking for his market value? We've had such a talent drain on this team in just a few seasons in free agency with nothing to show for it, we should be trying to rebuild our base talent level.

Nothing they have done so far this season has been about improving the roster. All moves so far (Kemba/Richardson/TT) have been about dumping salary or getting expiring deals. Maybe that changes in the next few days but I would think it unlikely at this point.

Look, if they really wanted to save money, they’d have never traded for Richardson.  Period.  The fact that they gave up even a C-level prospect to pay him $11.6 million this year means they are not just throwing in the towel on the season.  Sure, he’s an expiring.  195 of 450 players are either expiring contracts or have an option, and that doesn’t include non-guaranteed deals.  Maybe Richardson will work out.  Maybe he’ll leave and give us cap room.  Maybe he’ll be movable at the deadline for someone better because he’s an expiring.  It’s not bad that he’s an expiring.  It’s not a sign of much of anything.  But it’s also not a sign that they’re punting.

And if the C’s are looking into IT, fine.  He was a good teammate his first time around, and was a mentor to Jaylen.  He was a good teammate/mentor in Denver when he was there.  He’ll give it his all in practice because he just wants to play basketball, and that’ll help guys like Pritchard and Langford to be around that.  And if we don’t sign him, that’s fine too.  A third-string PG isn’t going affect how the season turns out from his on-court play.  If whomever we get for that role gets more than a few hundred minutes, something probably hasn’t gone to plan A, nor likely plan B or C either.

He can take Carsen Edwards' minutes and be more productive with them. So, sure.

If it was for the same money I'd rather have:
Shane Larkin
Raul Neto
Ish Smith
TJ McConnell
Ryan Arcidiacono
Frank Ntilikina
Chris Chiozza
Rayjon Tucker
Quinn Cook
Frank Jackson

I am getting really sick of PBS. We've seen this before with other coaches turn GM obsessed with bringing back players they know and trust. It usually involves them passing up on better opportunities and hamstringing their team.

PBS is going down a dangerous path.

So far it's Horford. Not a pattern at this point.

Agreed. It's more nervousness and fear at this point.

And it wasn't so much that we wanted Horford, we just wanted out of Kemba, and there were limited options

I think we wanted Horford to a degree.  I think Stevens felt the on-court communication and execution was poor the last season or two, particularly on defense, and this is one of Horford’s strengths.  I know heading into TimeLord’a second season the emphasis for him was to work on his communication.  Even this year it was pretty clear he didn’t have that down yet, as when there were no fans at the game, it was pretty quiet while the C’a were on defense.

Certainly a big part was getting out of Kemba’s deal, but I don’t think it was an accident that Horford is who we got back in return.
