From his free agency roundup : « Boston, I’m told, has interest in an Isaiah Thomas reunion, with new Celtics president of basketball operations Brad Stevens known to be one of Thomas’ biggest fans. »

I guess at this point he just wants a job but I wonder how he would feel returning to the team, likely on some kind of vet minimum when the last time he was here he was thinking of some huge, multi-year contract.

Yup. Maybe fans can stop drinking the green koolaid now and realize what is happening to this team.

  • Peace it's a board. We all will never agree.
Why not,  he can score. Robert Williams can cheat to his side on Defense and lead the lead in Blocks. He says he is healthy let him prove it. I think AB would be cool too.
We shall see.

Isaiah's Brinks Truck would be a Mini-Cooper.  :(

This is an unfair post, as are many the last day or two.

We don't know what's going on with the roster and spending at this point. We're just guessing and reacting to rumors, most of which will turn out to be nothing.

If these reports are true, Will definitely start to get worried about Brad as GM. The Horford move OK, needed a better big and Kemba wasn't working out. But potentially bringing back Avery Bradley, Jeff Green and IT... Seriously?

At some point you have to blame the performance on the court on the players on the court. Every loss is not the coach's fault and every win isn't because of the players.

Any of those guys on a vet minimum would be welcome.

Bradley and IT are fan favorites who can be brought in on 1-year deals. Keep the fans distracted while we basically tank for one season to get cap space for a max free agent and a mid-round pick.

It's pretty obvious the front office is trying to duck the tax by any means necessary. Bringing in reclamation projects like Richardson and trying to spin it through the media as a "Fournier replacement" reeks of a team trying to limit PR fallout. Wyc and Co. are being cheap, but I'm sure the last they want is to be called cheap. That's why we're getting new buzz words like "flexibility".

And now this with IT. Look, I love IT and I loved what he did for the team when he was here. But looking at everything this roster needs currently, there's no way anyone can claim this is a purely basketball move. It's not like IT hasn't had chances since leaving Boston, but he hasn't been good. There's other vet min level PG's who can come in and contribute more. This is a sentimental move to appease the fan base during what is about to be termed a "bridge year".

Nothing they have done so far this season has been about improving the roster. All moves so far (Kemba/Richardson/TT) have been about dumping salary or getting expiring deals. Maybe that changes in the next few days but I would think it unlikely at this point.

Fan favorites...Is he building a team or a circus?  Might as well bring Scalabrine back on a 1 year deal to go with Tacko and IT. Praying that these rumors are false.

Everything else aside, you don't think Kemba for Al makes us a better team? I do. Yes, the deal is about flexibility, but IMO it makes us better on its own.

Fournier isn't a foregone conclusion, but if they think he's not worth his deal or would hinder us trying to do a S&T or some such a year from now, why sign him? If, for example, the target is Beal, and the only way to trade is to include Fournier and his newly massive contract, then Washington wants no part of him, we'd be stuck, or held hostage by the Bullets for a bunch of extras. Giving Fournier a massive deal has more repercussions to it than lightening Wyc's wallet.
