Lol.
"Hey fans. Here's a sentimental distraction to keep you from noticing that ownership is cheaping out on building a competitive roster. #Flexibility"
Yup. Maybe fans can stop drinking the green koolaid now and realize what is happening to this team.
This is an unfair post, as are many the last day or two.
We don't know what's going on with the roster and spending at this point. We're just guessing and reacting to rumors, most of which will turn out to be nothing.
Nothing they have done so far this season has been about improving the roster. All moves so far (Kemba/Richardson/TT) have been about dumping salary or getting expiring deals. Maybe that changes in the next few days but I would think it unlikely at this point.
Look, if they really wanted to save money, they’d have never traded for Richardson. Period. The fact that they gave up even a C-level prospect to pay him $11.6 million this year means they are not just throwing in the towel on the season. Sure, he’s an expiring. 195 of 450 players are either expiring contracts or have an option, and that doesn’t include non-guaranteed deals. Maybe Richardson will work out. Maybe he’ll leave and give us cap room. Maybe he’ll be movable at the deadline for someone better because he’s an expiring. It’s not bad that he’s an expiring. It’s not a sign of much of anything. But it’s also not a sign that they’re punting.
And if the C’s are looking into IT, fine. He was a good teammate his first time around, and was a mentor to Jaylen. He was a good teammate/mentor in Denver when he was there. He’ll give it his all in practice because he just wants to play basketball, and that’ll help guys like Pritchard and Langford to be around that. And if we don’t sign him, that’s fine too. A third-string PG isn’t going affect how the season turns out from his on-court play. If whomever we get for that role gets more than a few hundred minutes, something probably hasn’t gone to plan A, nor likely plan B or C either.
