This move does two things- makes Smart redundant. And opens up cap flexibility for next season.

I think it signals the end of Evan Fournier in Boston

Agreed, and it appears that the Celtics are looking to make space in free agency next year

I dunno. We drafted an unknown player who happens to be represented by Fournier’s agent. Coincidence??? 🤷🏽‍♂️

That could be the end of Smart.

I agree. Whether it is this summer or next, it is unlikely Smart is here long term for the Cs imo.

Well, Smart is a point guard and Richardson is a shooting guard, so there isn’t redundancy there. Could be an insurance policy Incase Fournier decides not to re-sign.

At some point you have to blame the performance on the court on the players on the court. Every loss is not the coach's fault and every win isn't because of the players.

If the cs sign a max FA is bye bye smart and Timelord.  I can see the cs trading them for expiring contracts and draft assets.  I believe in order to have full max space the cs need to renounce smart and TL and stretch AL.

It's time to move on from him.

Yeah great defensive guy, but his streaky offense has been bizarre the last several years. And he's been injured on many occasions when we needed him most. Time to move on.

Could be the end of Smart, the end of Fournier, the end of both of them, or the end of neither of them.

Yes, it's looking less likely by the day that Evan will be back.
