Am I the only one that thinks we should hold on to Nesmith? I see his name in just about every trade rumor. He's usually in there as filler. I'd much rather send out future picks than Nesmith. He really looks like he's going to be a player. A very good player at least. He has all the tools and a great work ethic. I think he's part of the core of Tatum, Brown, Smart, Nesmith, TIMELORD, Pritchard. I can see reasons to trade Smart ( contract) TIMELORD ( contract and health) Pritchard ( ceiling even though I know he'll get better) but I can't see any reason, barring a trade for a star, to trade Nesmith before he really gets a chance.

I'll only add, that I feel the same way about Langford.

Yeah, I would prefer to get Langford a real chance before Nesmith.

Full agreement with you.  I see him as a solid rotation SG/SF with the Cs.  Along with Rob and Payton, Nesmith represents a solid bench.

Agree.  Trading him or Romeo now feels like trading low.  Both are poised to show a lot more in 21-22. If value goes up and they can trade for a higher quality veteran then ok but right now either is an upside throw in.  Some value but not where they’ll be in a year or 2 (I think).

I would prefer that they not trade Rob or Payton as part of a package unless it brings an all-star back.

I’d trade Pritchard in a heartbeat for something far below an All-Star. He’s going to be boxed out of playing time this year.

Nesmith played last year with no summer league, no preseason, and limited in-season practice.  He showed far more hops and general athleticism than I realized.  Towards the end of the season, he actually started to look comfortable on offense.  So yes, I like Nesmith.  I don't mind trading him for value but he is no throw in.  I would like to see what he has.  There could be significant improvement this season.

But I like all our young guys, Langford, Pritchard, and now add Moses Brown as right there with Nesmith.  All are young but have demonstrated the ability to play in the NBA.  None of these 4 project to be super stars but I feel like all of them can be useful players, fringe starter rotation players next season and likely more for several years to come.  I feel all of these young players have some meaningful ceiling to potentially realize.

I like Robert Williams too but I see him as closer to his ceiling.  He certainly could improve more than I expect but with him, I feel he kind of is what he is.  Grant Williams and Carson Edwards are (or should be) end of the bench guys and in that role are useful but far more expendable than our other young players.  I don't see a lot of unrealized ceiling in Grant or Carson.

I don't disagree with you.  As I said, I would trade him if he was part of a package that brought back an all-star.

Yeah, I would prefer to get Langford a real chance before Nesmith.

If I had to choose between the two I'd choose Nesmith. Romeo averaged 3 pts 1reb .7 assists 35FG% 27FT3% 39% EFG% with a PER of 5

Nesmith averaged 4pts 2Rebs .5 Ast 343%FG. 37%FG3% 55% eFG% with a PER of 9

Between the two I thought Nesmith had a more well rounded game. Mostly based on watching the games. Romeo had his moments of really good defense. It's a good problem to have.

Although I prefer Nesmith, they can both pack their bags in the right deal.
Larry Bird was Greater than you think.

Nesmith plays his butt off and that is how you survive the first couple of seasons. His arc during last season was significant. Bradley did the same really. Nesmith got called for his share of fouls but, he didn't lose it.

I really don't see Stevens trading him unless some team demands him in a big deal for a star. The Celtics need a good winger off the bench who plays hard defense. He's cheap and that three pointer kept getting better.

In his last 17 appearances...

19 for 43 from three

If he keeps that up whilst running all over the court on D, he gets decent minutes off the bench.

Huh?  As of this moment, Pritchard is our backup PG.

If I had to include one of either Pritchard, or Nesmith, or Langford in a trade for an upgrade elsewhere on the roster, it's Pritchard. I am strangely high on both Nesmith and Romeo, but moreso in Aaron.

Nesmith's work ethic has been reported in several places as being as good as it can get. Keep fit....work on the game....eat right.....study....then do it again and again until you're better just seems engrained in his nature. That's good!!!!
