Official…Dallas resign Tim Hardaway Jr to a 4 year deal at 72 million
I thought Dallas had max contract FA space after giving us Josh Richardson. Why would they give that up to resign Tim Hardaway Jr?

New Orleans Pelicans guard Lonzo Ball is landing on a four-year, $85 million contract with Chicago Bulls in a sign-and-trade agreement, his agent and @KlutchSports CEO Rich Paul tells ESPN.

so do the Bulls have to do some shakeups to make this work cap wise?

Its a sign and trade, so depends on what's going out.
The Chicago Bulls are sending Tomas Satoransky, Garrett Temple and a second-round pick to New Orleans for Lonzo Ball, who's signing a four-year, $85M contract, sources tell @TheAthletic @Stadium.

That's all it took?!

Satoransky is a pretty good & cost effective replacement for Lonzo in New Orleans. Another big guard who is more of a facilitator than a creator. Defends and facilitates; like Lonzo just not as well.

I feel like Chicago did not get the best out of Satoransky. That there is more there than they got. He is really steady player. A stabilizer.

We could have easily beaten that offer. Seems like Lonzo forced his way to the Bulls.

So maybe the rumors of Zion really wanting them to keep Ball weren't true?

Sounds like Lowry to the Heat via S&T is official now, too.

Another year watching all of our rivals improving while we penny pinch...

That Miami team will be exciting with Lowry, Jimmy and Bam. Jimmy an all-rounder next to Lowry & Bam who are both excellent team first guys. They can build a great team first concept / overachiever type team around those 3.

Free agent Kelly Olynyk has agreed to a three-year, $37M deal with the Detroit Pistons, his agent Jeff Schwartz of @excelbasketball tells ESPN.
Why did Detroit go all-out early in FA for Olynyk?

This might not have been posted in this thread yet, I can't find it in my quick search.
Not sure what I think of this.

I guess the Pels didn't want to keep him. I mean, he was a RFA. They could have matched the Bulls offer if they wanted to.

Allen re-signs with the Cavs for 5 years, $100 million. Don't think he's worth it. Love his game, but he's a role player. Not to mention, they drafted Mobley. What's the point in playing with twin towers? We aren't in the 80's anymore.

He didn't force his way. He's restricted but he's still an FA. He was never going to participate in a sign and trade if it wasn't a team he wanted to actually go to.

Still really interested to see what comes out of the Bos/Atl/Sac deal and if it's expanded. Would really love to try and pry one of Hield or Barnes from Sacramento, though that doesn't seem to be the route we're going. Bagley would be worth a look but less exciting.

According to rumors, plenty of teams were interested in him. Chicago could have created the necessary cap space to sign Lonzo by dumping Satoransky. Given that the Pels were unwilling to match Chicago's offer, they would have lost him for nothing. They may have had a better offer in hand, but it seems like Lonzo wanted to go to Chicago. At least this is my interpretation of what happened.
