What do you think about Grant Williams potential to improve in to a consistent part of the rotation? His 3 point shooting stroke seemed to have improved towards the end of the season, but I’m still not sold on his ability to be an effective switch defender, or an effective scorer aside from just hitting wide open 3’s.

He seems to have an infectiously positive attitude and good work ethic so I’d personally like to see him succeed on this team, but I’m afraid his chance has come and gone. Am I too impatient? Will be improve?

I have lost all hope in him. Too much of a tweener PF/C. Not a true enough player at either the forward or center position.

The forward position has gotten smaller, quicker and more skilled and Grant Williams is simply too slow and limited in his perimeter skills to cope with it. Not good enough to be a starter or a key bench player. A below average 3rd stringer.

Then at the center spot you have Grant at 6-7 or whatever he is, can't jump, limited length. He just can't cope as a shot blocker. He is not a good enough rebounder. He can play sound one-on-one defense and good perimeter team defense and provide good team offense as a center but those other limitations mean he will forever be limited to a 3rd string status.

I wouldn't waste any more time or a valuable roster spot on Grant Williams. I've written him off.

Especially when Jabari Parker is taking up another valuable spot at backup PF and he cannot be depended on. We need someone we can depend on at backup PF!!

He’s just too slow and un-athletic to cover 3’s and most 4’s. No lateral quickness at all. Too short to cover 5’s. I don’t think he’s good enough to take a roster spot. Same goes for Tacko, Waters and Edwards.

At some point you have to blame the performance on the court on the players on the court. Every loss is not the coach's fault and every win isn't because of the players.

This is probably a fair assessment, but let’s not forget another undersized big who didn’t become an effective player until his third year in the league - Draymond Green!  ;)

I've given up hope on Williams as well, I actually like Jabari particularly as our back-up PF. I think he brings scoring off the bench when we badly need it, I thought he played quite well for us in the Playoffs too. Hope to see more of him.

I'm a fan of Grant. I think he's a better role player than this blog gives him credit for. He's a good helpside defender and a good one-on-one defender. He's switched onto small guards in big moments and made stops. He hustles hard. He's really intelligent and keeps the ball moving. Now he's hitting more threes too.

He may not be a starter right now, but I think he's an ideal 9-10th man. If you expected Draymond Green, I can see why you'd be disappointed, but he's a good bench role player.

Sounds like someone that needs to be paid the vet minimum.

Sure. I'm not disagreeing, but he's still a good player to have on your team. This thread is treating our "roster spots" like they are a valuable assets that aren't worth using for Grant Williams. I think he's the perfect guy for your 9th-12th roster spot.

I still remember last post-season where he blocked FVV to seal a playoff win for the Cs. He's been a player that has made big plays in big moments for the Cs. I wish he could be a starting switchy four like PJ Tucker, but at this point in his career, he's just not that guy. But he is tough, smart, hard-working, somewhat switchy, an unselfish player, and an improving outside shooter.

I haven't given up on him but he's really got to turn it around in camp this next season.

I agree that Grant is a solid option in the 9-12 spot on the Roster, but the issue with the team in my opinion is we have too many guys who could be that 9-12 spot, and not enough guys that can adequately fill that 4-8 spot.

Haven’t lost hope but expectations need to be kept in check. Grant likely never becomes one of a playoff teams top 8 guys but I think he can improve his shot and still be a nice 9th/10th guy on a good team who can be trusted in playoffs

Grant Williams was picked #22 and he doesn’t turn 23 until November. What were your expectations for this player at this point in his career?
