In a wide-ranging radio interview with Felger and Mazz on 98.5 The Sports Hub Tuesday afternoon, Grousbeck addressed the team’s plans this offseason under new president of basketball operations Brad Stevens.
“We really try hard not to talk about future contracts and particular guys,” Grousbeck said. “The roster is not complete and there is a lot we have to go do and there is a lot of potential trades I would imagine, just reading the wires and thinking a little bit and talking a little bit to Brad. There is a lot of stuff that could happen this summer. I don’t really know what the roster is going to look like in August. It’s going to be a very busy July. We aren’t hard-capped or anything like that but we are going to have to be clever. If we are going to have to take in money, by cap rules, we are going to have to send money out.”
No matter what path Stevens takes in the coming weeks, Grousbeck is preparing for all the possibilities with the goal of getting the Celtics back on a path towards contending.
“I’m not demanding changes, I’m not expecting changes, I just want us to get farther,” he said. “It could be these guys or there may be changes but it’s not me demanding it or either expecting it. I’m ready for it because that’s what happens every year.”
