In a wide-ranging radio interview with Felger and Mazz on 98.5 The Sports Hub Tuesday afternoon, Grousbeck addressed the team’s plans this offseason under new president of basketball operations Brad Stevens.

“We really try hard not to talk about future contracts and particular guys,” Grousbeck said. “The roster is not complete and there is a lot we have to go do and there is a lot of potential trades I would imagine, just reading the wires and thinking a little bit and talking a little bit to Brad. There is a lot of stuff that could happen this summer. I don’t really know what the roster is going to look like in August. It’s going to be a very busy July. We aren’t hard-capped or anything like that but we are going to have to be clever. If we are going to have to take in money, by cap rules, we are going to have to send money out.”

No matter what path Stevens takes in the coming weeks, Grousbeck is preparing for all the possibilities with the goal of getting the Celtics back on a path towards contending.

“I’m not demanding changes, I’m not expecting changes, I just want us to get farther,” he said. “It could be these guys or there may be changes but it’s not me demanding it or either expecting it. I’m ready for it because that’s what happens every year.”

TP to Ed Monix for Wyc post.

"We are going to very busy".....we might just end up with what we've got.

Stevens will get them a point guard and a veteran front court guy?

Other noteworthy topics broached:

Wyc Grousbeck says Brad Stevens’ long-term contract had nothing to do with him moving into the GM role in a 98.5 interview with Felger & Mazz. “It wasn’t a defensive move. It was an offensive move of someone we liked to put him in a position of authority.”

Wyc Grousbeck on if Brad Stevens would have remained Celtics coach next season: “Who knows? If he wanted to be, he would be. He was not going to be let go. If he wanted to be the coach, he would be the coach. But he preferred to be President.”

Wyc Grousbeck states that Celtics considered 12 candidates for the coaching job.

Wyc Grousbeck on whether the Celtics wanted to hire a minority coach: “That’s not how we hire. We just hire the best possible person…Let’s not insult Ime, the organization or me.”

Jerome Allen confirmed he is departing the Celtics after serving on Brad Stevens’ staff and is reportedly joining Dwane Casey’s bench in Detroit.

Most of the staff from Stevens’ tenure is waiting to hear word on their futures while interviewing elsewhere. Deals expire Thursday.

Great answer to the coaching question. ‘Let’s not insult Ime.’

It’s fireworks time babyyyyyyyy!!!

Lol but in all seriousness, C’s do need to make a few more moves. I hope Tatum is (at the very least) involved or given a heads up on the moves, with him being our franchise player and all.

Once you are labeled 'the best' you want to stay up there, and you can't do it by loafing around.
