2021-2022 Point Guard?

Who can the Celtics reasonably acquire to play PG? OR do you feel Smart and PP will be more successful in the PG role than anyone who could be reasonably acquired?

Barring a trade, I'm expecting Marcus to be the starting PG. We may use the tax-MLE or one of the small TPE's to bring in a veteran backup, but I think Brad will give PG Marcus an extended look.

Just start Smart. I said it the year they got Kemba it was a bad choice I would have signed Randle and started Smart.

Give Smart his shot.  It at least makes him less focused on shooting and more on passing (in theory).

I don't see the Celtics getting a better starting PG then Smart without a big trade.   

And I want to see Prichard get the shot to be the clear backup.

I think they should see how Smart does as the full time PG. He’s not sharing the duties with Kemba anymore, so I’m hoping this means more playmaking from Marcus and Less shooting. If he is not able to handle the role, would try to deal him at the trade deadline.

I really think we will move and replace Smart as 6th men or at SG. Hopefully with the MLE for an experimented 2Y contract, if Lonzo ST isn't, for a reason or another, sustunable.

Obviously, we all know Kemba didn't start in back-to-backs. I'm not sure how many games that accounted for, but odds are that Smart started those games. I'm curious as to what Smart's numbers were in those games where he started at PG, and how they compare to his other games. Did his assist numbers go up, while his shooting attempts went down, or did his numbers stay relatively the same? I'm assuming there wasn't much of a change. My point is, does the team really need to see how Marcus will perform in the role next season, or do they have enough information already to make that determination.

Try to deal for a later 1st from Houston. This draft has some guard talent in the back half of the 1st round.

What we get with Smart is pretty good playmaking for others, an average offensive talent, when he doesn't try to do too much, and an all league defender who can switch and guard anyone in the league well, except maybe Joel Emblid. Having 3 defenders (also the J's) who can guard just about anyone, makes the Celtics  defense formidable. I think PP is a strong back-up. I don't think we need more than a league minimum 3rd PG. The only way this does not work is if Smart takes many more shots than he should, I am willing to give it a try, and spend our resources on Fournier, extending Williams, and maybe picking up a 4.
