i most certainly am not insightful about basket X and O. but watching the celtics and then-CBS offense, once the celtics were over mid-court they did not seem to have a traditional PG role for anyone. lots of ball movement by everyone seemed to be the goal.
smart, kemba, PP, et al were used to bring the ball over the mid-court line, and that was as close to a traditional PG as i saw. by the end of the season tatum was often bringing the ball up. i think then-CBS wanted a ball handler to bring the ball up, then switch to his offensive schemes.
so, for the role of brining up the ball over mid-court, i think you will see smart, pritchard, tatum, and langford do that a lot. the celtics front office has already mentioned how they want langford to handle the ball more and believe in his abilities there.
so, having "the Yammer" (TM) as a celtic would be nice, but not essential. besides, it will take sometime for him to adjust to the nba level of play.
i think in the future the hot debate topic on CS will "who is better? the Yammer or 9 mile?
