Horford - Tatum - Brown - Fournier - Smart
RWilliams - Parker - Nesmith - Langford - Pritchard

Hopefully we flip TT for either a backup 4 or a point guard.

Draft Herbert Jones in the 2nd round. Prefer him to Semi
Another first round exit with that team..Smart is not a true PG and that bench is awful

I think that starting lineup could compete with any team not named Brooklyn. Giannis and Embiid are better than Tatum right now, but he’s closing the gap...

Giannis>Tatum
Middleton<Brown
Lopez<Horford
Divincenzo<Fournier
Holiday>Smart

Embiid>Tatum
Harris<Brown
Simmons=Horford
Green<Fournier
Curry<Smart

Defense would be atrocious with Parker and Fournier starting together.

Their defensive is better than reported. Would give us a switchable lineup with good size. 6’7” and up. 3 plus shooters. 4 guys who can stretch floor.
I'm not sure if starting is Parker's best role. Mainly because of his injury history.
'23 Historical Draft: Orlando Magic.

PG: Terry Porter (90-91) / Steve Francis (00-01)
SG: Joe Dumars (92-93) / Jeff Hornacek (91-92) / Jerry Stackhouse (00-01)
SF: Brandon Roy (08-09) / Walter Davis (78-79)
PF: Terry Cummings (84-85) / Paul Millsap (15-16)
C: Chris Webber (00-01) / Ralph Sampson (83-84) / Andrew Bogut (09-10)

I mean...I’m not reading reports, but I’ve watched almost every game and Fournier is average at best and Parker is certainly below average. Don’t think it would work and I definitely don’t want Parker starting. He’s not a starter in the NBA.

If Ime could “bring out the dog” in Jabari and bring out the best in him, a starting line up of Smart-Brown-Tatum-Parker-Horford may be possible? Or maybe bring in Timelord over Al?

I don't think CIU called Smart a foundational piece in an off the cuff manner. IMO, unless a really good opportunity presents itself, Smart will be our starting PG. I think our starting lineup will be Tatum/Brown/Horford/Smart/Langford, unless, again, something big breaks, like Beal forcing a trade or some such.

But hopefully we make a trade and a signing to fill out PG and PF

New PG

I think it’s far more likely that Parker will not even be on the opening day roster than it is he would be the opening day starter.

This statement is the most accurate.

Parker is an interesting case.  He played well as a starter for Atlanta in 2019/20, albeit for only 23 games before getting hurt and then traded to SAC.  The thought of Parker starting, based on what I saw in this time with the Celtics, is not a nice thought.

The funny thing that is true though is that he is probably our best PF.  He would probably be ahead of Grant Williams and Ojeleye.  Normally, you would expect a team's best PF to be a starter.  But our best PF is a 15 minute bench guy.  Oh how I hope we find a decent PF so that our starters can be:

Smart
Brown
Tatum
Decent PF
Horford

That is a good team.  Everyone playing their natural position.  We can also play with Fournier in a 3-wing, 1-big line up that everyone seems to like and that is fine at times, I just don't like that as the core line up we are forced to play because our PFs are so bad.

And if Parker can somehow be the 16/7 PF that he was in Atl (26 min/gm) maybe he be our "starting" PF for say 20-24 min per game.

1 - Smart
2- Nesmith
3- Brown
4- Tatum
5- Timelord

Smart is at his best when he’s in to shoot,  not pass. Let him average 11/7/5 and we’ll be good.

Nesmith showed he’s got some DOG in  him as a defender and hustler. Showed the ability to take it to the cup. And we know he’s got at least an above-average stroke from downtown.

I like JB and JT both playing “up” and using their speed, skill, and quickness on bigger slower players. I think they tend to drive more on bigs as opposed to shooting over smaller players. Give me the version of them that drives any day.

Timelord, if healthy, has the talent to be an all-star. We’ve seen the freakish hops, but his passing, hands, and touch around the rim are all elite. He may NEVER be able to stay on the court, but as long as he can, start that dude.

This would be my starting line-up as well. Give Tatum and Brown full ability to shine (Smart offers defense, Nesmith offers shooting and Timelord brings rim protection and vertical spacing). Our two All Stars should be able to carry that unit. And then you bring in two over-qualified veterans (Spurs style) in Fournier and Horford to stabilize the level of play, while other specialists (f.e. Pritchard, Langford, Parker) can do their thing against bench players without being exposed/targeted by opposing starting units.

Smart (Pritchard)
Brown (Langford)
Nesmith (Fournier)
Tatum (Parker)
Timelord (Horford)

This is what I'd like to see, but I believe they brought Horford in to make the 2-big-unit work. Without taking into account possible injuries I'd be surprised if Smart/Brown/Tatum/Horford/Timelord aren't the starters on opening day.
