Is there any consensus on how long the coaching search might take? Are we looking at something that will probably be wrapped up in the next 10 days or so, or might it be longer?

Question wasn’t asked at the presser.

Jason Kidd reportedly withdraws from the Blazers coaching job:

https://www.espn.com/nba/story/_/id/31577200/jason-kidd-says-vie-fill-portland-trail-blazers-head-coaching-vacancy
Strange

Maybe he is done as a head coach?

It seems like a taxing job with pressers etc

He didn't withdraw from the other coaching jobs including the Celtics job, just the Blazers job.

He cited the comments by Dame as putting him and the Blazers organization in a difficult position. That's an odd move to withdraw though unless he already has another offer.

Celtics should just hire Kidd to lure Dame Lillard to Boston, since I heard he wants to play under Jason Kidd.

My guess is Lakers are gonna fire Vogel and hire Kidd as his replacement.

I’m firmly in the “no way” camp when it comes to Kidd as the Celtics head coach, but even I think it’s worth thinking about it you can get Lillard to muscle his way to Boston for reasonable compensation (that is, take what you’re want other than Tatum and Brown).

From the names being thrown around, Billups is the one I have my eye on the most. That aside, I don't know how good of a coach some of the women being mentioned, but I wouldn't be opposed to the Celtics breaking yet another NBA barrier...

You may be right.

What on earth is with all this Rondo chatter? He's a currently contracted active player?

He's an old man with an extremely high basketball IQ.
He is, but he's slated to earn $7.5m next year. That's top level coaching money (which he would not get) and he's still playing fairly well as a Clipper

Good point. 7.5 million a year for playing part time is a great deal.
He also doesn't exactly have a great history in terms of getting along. Fans love the fiery types but over the long haul they rarely succeed. For example let's see what happens with the Thibs era in New York moving forward.

That could be true, but then why withdraw from the Blazers position but not from the Celtics position or others?

Seems to be a consensus. After all, the Rickster drafted him for the Celtics, and then gave up on him prematurely.

I was struck in the Celtics presser that Danny said the front office was already in place with his people. That suggests to me it will be his people who pick the next coach.
I also doubt if Stevens will be around for any more than a year. He'll want to go back to college coaching, and will get major opportunities.

Does Clippers advancement keep Billups from interviewing? Hopefully so.  He is my top choice.  I think his personality is better suited for that of a head coach than Sam Cassell.

I dont think so

But depends if Clippers will allow it. Prevent distraction

Also. It will be interesting what happens with Carlisle moving forward
