The meltdowns (me included) if we hired JVG or Pitino would be immense

Thankfully hiring Pitino won't be an option at all.

I m going to predict something that may not popular but ...

Celtics need a strong person,  not another quiet type ,   Somebody not afraid to ask his players to step up at times.  BUT most important is Willing and not afraid of coaching the stars and handling their big egos .  Somebody players respond too and respect.

If Boston hires another weak unpopular players coach that fails ,  he will be out within 3 years and new coach

Doc Rivers returns and maybe with Thibs

Rivers has a long term contract with 76ers

And he is not going to want to coach under Brad.

Too much pride

Would have only worked if he got power to do both jobs like in LA

I like this

But Brad is going to want a guy who is receptive to him and can work with him

Not a rebel type like Rondo

100% they should hire Becky Hammon

If we're going to be a mess let's at least have something to feel good about.

I could see her really dig into the team....Spurs style

I welcome ball and player movement style of basketball

Me too. Don't like all that iso stuff.
Never understood why Stevens kept playing such a static offensive system.

Bill Simmons and those other guys like Billups

at first I thought he was too soft spoken to be able to lead this team

but listening to him more and more

I think he would be a good fit for the Celts

He kind of throws Carmelo Anthony under the bus....regarding scoring 30 vs sacrificing some points.

He can help bend Brown/Tatum mindset to do this also.

I'm on team hire Billups. He has won a ring as a player.
Does he have any coaching experience? I'd be surprised if we went with a complete rookie

He is currently an assistant coach with the Clippers

Ah, so only one year of coaching. That's probably still not enough to vaunt him ahead of guys like Sam Cassell who has a near-decade of assistant coaching, but we'll see.
'23 Historical Draft: Orlando Magic.

PG: Terry Porter (90-91) / Steve Francis (00-01)
SG: Joe Dumars (92-93) / Jeff Hornacek (91-92) / Jerry Stackhouse (00-01)
SF: Brandon Roy (08-09) / Walter Davis (78-79)
PF: Terry Cummings (84-85) / Paul Millsap (15-16)
C: Chris Webber (00-01) / Ralph Sampson (83-84) / Andrew Bogut (09-10)

My guess is that CBS will select a coach who either was

(1) highly talented NCAA coach
(2) vet NBA coach who CBS coached against and was impressed by
(3) an underling. One of CBS' assistants.

I do not see CBS selecting a first time NBA coach / former player type candidate like Sam Cassell. I don't think CBS will take that risk. He will look for someone with more head coaching experience or someone he knows well and trusts (underling).

Kenny Atkinson
Dave Joerger
Kara Lawson
Lloyd Pierce

I like Kenny Atkinson ...my type of coach .....but he is like Pop and needs to be the boss ....even to the stars ......he d be good for young guys

But will the Stars play for a guy like him......going by Nets ....answer is NO

Dave Joerger....my type of coach too.....but same as Kenny .....will the Stars come play for him ?   My guess is no

Stevens , Atkinson and Joeger are fine coaches .....but unless you have a Lebron to actually boss the rest of the stars ,  then the KD, Kyrie s and many others will NOT play for a coach dominate team.   I love these guys ,  but stars have been given the power by NBA ...

So as a team .....as owners .....you ask yourself do I want to win titles and am I willing to bend over ,  fire good coaches , put players together who will direct and run the team ?

NBA has created this system ....the KD and Lebron system of team building ....do the Celtics want to walk the tread mill or join the fray ?

Also the families, fathers , spouses, etc for these stars help guide them with their biases toward certain clubs ...it’s obvious.   The agents also tend to group their stars in certain ways under certain coaches to retain power.

When Embiid s back goes south ....That team will fold ....and Doc won’t stay

Chauncey would be my favorite choice for now.  I want a guy who will hold all the players accountable.  That 2004 Piston team played so well together.  He gets what it takes, especially when you don't have a couple of top 5 players.

I wouldn't be against Van Gundy.

Looking at some of the Knicks teams he coached you certainly can't say they were soft.
maybe he cling to ainge's leg.  ;D

I believe Gandhi is the only person who knew about real democracy — not democracy as the right to go and buy what you want, but democracy as the responsibility to be accountable to everyone around you. Democracy begins with freedom from hunger, freedom from unemployment, freedom from fear, and freedom from hatred.

Danny Ainge on T&R  stated that.... Kara Lawson is not a candidate  (from his vantage point).  He stated that she is already locked up to Duke/recruitment process of players for her team.  And also she does not have head coaching experience or much experience

He provided no suggestion as to who to hire. But did list Snyder, Carlisle, Vogal...as some of the top guys in today NBA

Carlisle would be perfect if he’s willing to leave Dallas. Snyder has the Duke connection so who knows...either of them would be great.

true.  I would like either.   Their systems are very good.
