According to Bill Simmons

Fournier has played 15 playoff games and his playoff PER 6.8. Only three guys can qualify for these parameters (see below), the other two are Stephon Marbury and OJ Mayo (since 1970).

* have played at least 10 games
* minimum 25 min each game
* have to had scored at least 9 ppg
* shoot under 36%

it is funny because Ray Allen was almost traded for OJ Mayo in what was seen as the trade that would give Celtics the edge, but he hit the championship point some years later for the team of our greatest rivals at that time...

I think that we could find a whole lot of "all time historically" bad / good players if we adjusted the parameters unnaturally enough.  Are the players who scored fewer than 9 ppg not historically worse, for instance?  It seems like odd criteria weighted to come to a biased conclusion.

Slightly off topic, did you guys catch that podcast with Bill and Jackie Mac when they discussed the All NBA selection? I’m all for leaving JT out but to include Lebron, who only played 43 games, is really disappointing to hear from them. JT didn’t make his teammates better and LBJ was “the best player” each time he played? Didn’t both the Celtics and Lakers end up as 8th seeds who needed to go through the play in games? Sorry for the rant. This Lebron bias is just getting to my nerves. And now the NBA came out with a statement on why he was allowed to play despite the covid protocol violation. And yet all throughout the season they didn’t bother explaining why players missed games. *End of rant*

To be fair Fournier's career TS% in the playoffs is a scorching hot 46%.

Eye test also suggests that Fournier's offensive game (especially his on-ball skills) don't hold up well against playoff defences. This doesn't mean that he's not a good player, it just means that his RS numbers overstate his actual prowess in the games that truly matter.

But it is sure Evan collapsed last year and this first match. It isn't pressure I guess but his intensity is in question. I hope he finds a way to show off in this serie; if not I think he may not stay in the team (but can bring a good TPE).
Saddly I wanted to see him as the 4th option or 6TH men, where he could be reliable, cause as a 2a offensive option in PO , I don't think he makes it...

I expect Fournier to improve in this series, but even if he doesn't, you have to look at who his opponent has been. He has always been on one of the two worst playoff teams, meaning he has always had to play a top 2 opponent. I'm sure if Evan had been on the Cs, Bucks, or Raptors these past few years, his stats would look a lot better. Not only would he be playing a much worse opponent in round one, but a lot less would be expected of him, too.

I am not going to worry too much about it until the series is over. And if he just continues to be iffy, well, then we should get him for a great deal on his next contract.
