Parker was a cheap 2 (well, 1.25) season flyer.

Let's see how he looks next season.   He has the body size, length, and some decent skills, to give us back up help at the power forward, and maybe some small ball 5.

How's this for an answer: Brad needs to go. I think he's lost the locker room and maybe he's soo soft he was just giving in to the players whining at him for paying time? OR he was just throwing things at the wall hoping they stick, maybe he just lost whatever he might have had at one point? We need someone with a back bone, personality, brains and fire, who will have the players respect not some choir boy who probably never had a street fight in his life. Just sayin.....he needs to go.....

New qualification for being a successful NBA coach: Must have been in a street fight.

The guy sucks (Jabari Parker). Don't overthink it.

So the signing wasn't meant to help this year? I guess Danny was thinking tank earlier than me. Danny is always a step ahead...

It's obviously not but the point is, he's weak. If the player are a lot of times a reflection of the coaches character, then he has failed miserably, this team has no hustle or grit, hence, soft, just like him. Danny's to blame too on the pieces he chose. At least Parker has a scorer's mindset, GW, Semi, have no clue when they get their hands on the ball and are left to freelance when a play breaks down, you can see the almost panic on their faces when they can't pass the ball fast enough. We don't need ANY players like that, EVER.   G-league players. We have a bunch of them.

And yet almost every other team he has coached as the Celtics head coach has been a team known for its defense, hustle, grit, tenacity and toughness.

So apparently Brad Stevens must have had a personality transplant before this season started.

I didn't even know that was a thing.

I simply don't get the outrage directed at Stevens for not using a guy that doesn't know the team's plays after weeks on the team, is known throughout his career as a truly awful defender(and has been here) and who is basically the 15th man on a 17 man roster.

It's more about why we signed him if he's not going to play. Parker's game was already well known. Pick up someone we could use. We have a lot of unplayable players on the roster already. We already have enough 15th men we need some 7th and 8th men.

so many absurdities in one post. CBS has no grit? he is soft? show me this with evidence. not screaming or ranting at refs is not identical with being soft. not verbally abusing your own players is not being soft.

being a coach in the NBA takes a lot of will, strength, and determination.

next, we watch different games. grant and semi pass the ball, which is fine with me since they are not primary scorers. if they shot more often would you happier with them? once more, please show me the evidence of these two players being panicked, scared, afraid.

so, danny's to blame for getting a "piece" that has a scorer's mindset, parker? i dont follow this thinking, unless you meant it as a compliment.

this season is bad enough. we dont need silliness piled on top of it.

Democracy begins with freedom from hunger, freedom from unemployment, freedom from fear, and freedom from hatred.

When your two best bench players are rookies it's good you got some good rookies but we need some good vet playable guys on our bench. Don't sign unplayable 15th men we don't need any more of those.

Look at all these apologists defending Brad Stevens, when clearly he's been the problem for how the Celtics have been losing every year  ::)

This year's blame is still on Stevens as well as the players. The GM needs to take some hits too for being too light during shopping season.

@ Vermont Green, having to move Theis was that if C's are in playoffs they were going to be bonuses and it would put them into the tax. So by moving Theis they made enough room. Irony now is, C's might get bounced in the play in. Penny pinching may have costed them a lot more than they were seeking to save.

Yeah, I guess I get that but it is still really unfortunate.  I am sure they tried other things but Carsen Edwards and a second to someone and not taking back Kornet and Wagner probably gets them there too.

I think by trading Theis, it was a concession by ownership that they were not committed to this season.  I understand staying under the tax was important but I think this was the wrong message and this message was not lost on the players.  The team has played bad ever since.  You can say, you are pros, making millions, suck it up and play, but there is no doubt to me that something changed with the team.  To me, it was Theis, both in terms of what he did on the court (which we miss) and the message it seemed to send to the players (and maybe also the coach).
Not sure if this helps or hurts but DA said he also traded Theis to open up playing time for TL. IMO if Theis was here BS would never have given TL the chance he got once Theis was gone. Sometimes you have to trade decent vet players away for coaches to play young guys.
The 10 games before Theis was traded Williams played 21 mpg.  The 1o games after Theis was traded until Williams got hurt he played 25.2 mpg.  In other words, the trade opened up 4 extra minutes.  He scored about the same amount of points, added an extra rebound and assist, but dropped about a half a block a game.  Again, really not much difference.  Really the only difference was, Williams started instead of coming off the bench, but practically speaking there wasn't much difference.

Bigs - Pau, Amar'e, Issel, McGinnis, Roundfield
Wings - Dantley, Bowen, J. Jackson

  • Let's Go Celtics!
First couple of games he put effort into defense (even if he didn't always know where to go)

That effort faded fast.

Ding, ding - we have a winner, folks.

If there's one thing Brad has made clear lately, is that he's disappointed in the team's defense and the effort (or lack thereof) on that end of the floor. Jabari is a terrible defender. He makes very little effort consistently at trying to be passable. He's decent enough offensively but he's not such a world beater that you play him regardless. He has to up his effort defensively to crack the rotation.
