The "Nesmith is a bust" posts are aging really well right now.    8)

The reality is... you dont see such a slow/lost start. Turn out like this .... in the same season.  Shortened season

Good for Nesmith

He was not getting playing time and that was the problem. You have to play these kids extended minutes to get comfortable. You cannot give them a short leash.

This also

the point is that people were ready to give up on this kid when he had no training camp and is just a rookie still not old enough to legally drink.  way too early to call rookies busts.

Yeah, because Stevens handling of Nesmith so far this year clearly demonstrates that. ::) ::) ::)

Just impressive

So Nesmith on multiple occassions, goes to help to double team Derozan.

Who kicks it out to a Spurs player. Who then makes a quick extra pass

And guess who is up in that players face.... Nesmith

There are two of him on the court.

Amazing what can happen when you finally have the defensive rotations down and don't even have to think about where you should be and just naturally react and go where you should be.

+1

That was some kind of team defense in the 2nd half

Last week, if you told me that Nesmith was going to play big minutes in two big games and finish out said games on the floor with the starters?...nah.

Spurs + Hornets

MPG 30.5
PPG 15.5
FG 13 for 21 - 62%
3PT 4 for 8
TREB 7.5
Stl 2
Blk 1.5
I won't mention the 10 personal fouls.

Stats aside, Nesmith sparked this team. He was not taking prisoners, he was throwing himself through walls to get the ball, he was in every opponent's face on defense, he was taking the shots his team mates needed him to take and making them. He has a 6'11" wingspan, but, he is often airborne so you can add a foot or two to that.

This season, I was amped about Pritchard and Robert...add this Nesmith guy? Ainge is going to get draft picker of the week award from the NBA.

Finally, it has been fun to watch Stevens "leave him in the game" with 5 fouls and everything on the line. He's stealing minutes from everybody.

Wow. Watching his video highlights.

Tatum obviously was our MVP last night, historic scoring.

But man, Nesmith made most of the biggest plays last night when we needed them most. ON both sides of the ball.  Just so pleased with his effort. Nice to see his skills finally catching up. It seems like other teams will have to start accounting for him more offensively, which will open more lanes up for the two Js.

On defense, it seems the big adjustment was using him to double up on DeRozan, and that when DeRozan gave up the ball, Nesmith became a free safety, and would pick up the guy on the swing pass.  That required a lot of quick decision making on his part. He was really impressive doing that.

Love this kid.

16pts vs Blazers.  His 3s look great.  Another stellar defensive perfomance.  Again not sure why Brad took him out/subbed in Langford

His rookie year is starting to remind me of Brown's first year, where he's very raw and needs the game to slow down, yet the potential is quite clear.
2023 No Top 75 Fantasy Draft Los Angeles Clippers
PG: Dennis Johnson / Jo Jo White / Stephon Marbury
SG: Sidney Moncrief / World B. Free
SF: Chris Mullin / Ron Artest
PF: Detlef Schrempf / Tom Chambers / Buck Williams
C: Ben Wallace / Andrew Bynum

Nesmith is now the 5th best 3pt shooter on the team.

Pritchard: 41.7%
Brown: 39.7%
Tatum: 39.3%
Fournier: 39.2%
Nesmith: 38.2
Semi: 38.1%

Anyone not on this list shouldn’t be shooting more than one or two 3’s a game. Marcus, cough..Kemba.

At some point you have to blame the performance on the court on the players on the court. Every loss is not the coach's fault and every win isn't because of the players.
