We drafted him for his shooting. It hasn’t really shown up yet (although he is shooting miiiiiiiiiles better than Carsen Edwards who was also supposed to be a shooter).

That said, I’m very pleased with his hustle and he should see the floor just off of that. Hopefully his shooting touch returns to him in his second year. 34% is ok but we need him to be like pre-Celtic Fournier, around 38-40%!

I agree he was drafted for his shooting and to date it's not what was expected.  However, I'm not sure Danny knew he was getting a strong rebounder and a hustle player.  His D has looked better than most of us expected.

I think the shooting is coming around. Last night’s result is just fine - 50% overall, 40% from 3 - and he’s doing little things that show promise. He relocates to get himself open as the play develops. He can sidestep to avoid a closeout, set his feet and shoot with good balance and rhythm.

I’ll agree he needs to sustain and I’ll always take even more, but I don’t see why he won’t bring the shooting we want. I just hope he doesn’t break himself on one of his chase down blocks...

Predraft: He was considered a strong rebounder for his size

The perimeter defense was the question mark.  He tried but got "bunt" a few times

Technically he is still somewhat rough around the edges. But his tremendous effort was more than enough yesterday

There is going to be growing pains/film needs to be relied on. Example trying to contain a player like Lowry or Durant.  Cant just "effort" D against them.

I believe in Nesmith on and off the court work ethic

Brad Stevens says he is always at the gym. Wouldnt be surprised if he is there now, even after bouncing around like a ping pong/pinball machine ball. Workhorse

I think his comfort attacking the hoop is helping him relax from the 3.

You must have missed the memo. Wallowing in squalor is what we do here at CelticsStrong, especially in the game threads

Off topic, but occasionally I’ll miss a game.  It’s easy to tell if we lost:  lots of new threads, rage posts, etc.  This thread is one of the few threads to be created after a win, celebrating something.

I suppose that’s the weight of expectations. If JB goes for 40 and we win, I guess it’s just expected at this point.

That being the case, I hope this is a thread that gets bumped repeatedly

LOL.....that’s exactly how I know what happened if I miss a game .  I don’t need to go to game thread ,   The titles of the most current threads give that away .   Are we going to tank ,  can Tatum please learn to pass the ball,  trade Smart ....I’m like rut roe ,  something went wrong at that game .. :) :

Nesmith had a heck of a game!

I still can’t figure an accurate best case comparison for Aaron though. Most draft guides had Buddy Hield as player Nesmith resembles but I don’t believe that to be true. Hield is more like a poor man’s Harden, where I can see shades of Tony Snell (floor comp), Klay Thompson, Reggie Miller & perhaps Allan Houston in Nesmith.

I’d like to know what player(s) fellow CelticsStrong bloggers believe most resembles Nesmith.

It’s only a guess but his shooting could be the product of him not having the adequate muscle endurance yet to get low and really have to defend and then have your springy legs for a jumper. I’m hoping this is what’s going on aside from normal rookie jitters. But shooters need shots and he’s been on the pine mostly. Hasn’t had the opportunities.

Nesmith hasn't shot well but shooting better than Smart from 3.

given that CS seems to be happy and not down about nesmith nowadays, perhaps this bit of hagiography is in order.  ;D

I'll give Danny some props if A.N. steps up next year. Just can't have any more whiffs in the lottery range. I'm still really skeptical Romeo is going to make it.

Aaron showed he's got more 2 way potential in a single night, than Romeo has showed in his young career.

I fault Brad for not getting Romeo touches early on, and also to Romeo strengths..on the move, cutting, or within 15 feet.
