  • Sometimes there's no sane reason for optimism
I absolutely despise the Nets and think it would be totally undeserving if they won, but them in a landslide over the Lakers. And it's not like the Lakers haven't benefited almost as much as the Nets in putting together an 'unfair' team. It is what it is, and I just hope that any team outside of these two is able to pull it out this year.

For me, scary and sadly enough it is the Lakers.

This is because if the Nets win the championship it sets some scary precedent:

- Contracts are meaningless if you act up enough.

- Team building and culture are meaningless and stars can jump ship, join up and win if they join forces. It really cheapens a championship ring too.

- Tells players that they can have an owner that does everything for them with ever perk under the sun, if you can’t compete just walk and start again.

- Teams and their history are meaningless, every player should move around as much as possible. NBA will become just a season of pick up basketball.

- Stars essentially have complete control of a franchise, even though they have no idea how to chose the best coach, role players, trainers. The owners of teams have to do what the star wants otherwise they’ll leave.

On the other hand you have people who have no problem when players are treated like assets by ownership and management.

IMO those days of scumbag owners are almost over. The NBA players are one of the best treated athletes in the world. Charted flights, personal chefs, psychologists, the best medical science available, the narrative of players seen and treated as ‘non-human’ is an old one. Remember the players contracts are guaranteed, no other major sports league in the US has those conditions. The players getting moved in deals, is and will always be inevitable to get the ‘stars’. If you were offered a guaranteed 1 + million to move cities would you do it? When the guys move the team even have temporary accommodation already available when they touchdown. Most of the player movement is instigated by the players themselves either wanting a change of scenery or more money. Just look at how Harden has behaved and other then a tiny fine relative to his wage hasn’t lost anything...who really has the power? Irving literally just stop showing up for multiple games and is still making 10’s of millions (not including endorsements)...if anyone just stop showing up to work for no reason and refused to answer or notify your employer, how would that turn out?

I never ever want to see the Lakers win a title, no matter who is playing for them
C/PF-Horford, Baynes, Noel, Theis, Morris,
SF/SG- Tatum, Brown, Hayward, Smart, Semi, Clark
PG- Irving, Rozier, Larkin

This thread is blasphemous.

Any team but the Lakers.

Lakers should never win another title as long as the NBA exists.

I rooted for the Pistons in 1988.  This one is easy.

Isn’t it to late for all your concerns? If they both play perhaps a scoreless draw.
, otherwise the Nets is my choice.

I actually like this Lakers team more.

That said, Nets all day everyday.

So much of the playoffs every year comes down to health I think this year will be no different. I still like the Celtics chances to win it all ( I know I'm in the minority here) if they are fully healthy. So my answer to Nets or Lakers is Celtics!!!

If C’s aren’t winning it, then among the favorites, I’m rooting for the other teams in the ff rank:
1. Bucks
2. Nuggets
3. Clippers
4. Sixers
5. Nets
6. Lakers

Are there any other contenders I’m missing?

I’m not sure why you have bucks that high... bucks fans absolutely despise Celtics organization and fans. It’s weird that we are hated so much and have only one title in 30+ years

Lol fair enough. I find the Nuggets annoying because of Murray, otherwise I would’ve had them as my #1. I like Middleton and to be fair, I think Giannis has paid his dues while still winning MVP and DPOY.

Which of the 6 teams are you rooting for the most?

I would probably put clippers on top. I wouldn’t mind them stealing the spotlight in Southern California
