This is a subject that is extremely hard to broach, but if it came down to it, if the Brooklyn Nets play the Los Angeles Lakers in the NBA Finals...who would you prefer to win (throws up a little in mouth).

Nets and it’s not even close. Lakers would pass the Celtics for most championships. Would hope that this is every C’s fans answer.

At some point you have to blame the performance on the court on the players on the court. Every loss is not the coach's fault and every win isn't because of the players.

For me, scary and sadly enough it is the Lakers.

This is because if the Nets win the championship it sets some scary precedent:

- Contracts are meaningless if you act up enough.

- Team building and culture are meaningless and stars can jump ship, join up and win if they join forces. It really cheapens a championship ring too.

- Tells players that they can have an owner that does everything for them with ever perk under the sun, if you can’t compete just walk and start again.

- Teams and their history are meaningless, every player should move around as much as possible. NBA will become just a season of pick up basketball.

- Stars essentially have complete control of a franchise, even though they have no idea how to chose the best coach, role players, trainers. The owners of teams have to do what the star wants otherwise they’ll leave.

I believe there is a previous thread on this topic.

For me there isn't any question. To be honest, the Nets winning a championship with the 3 unlikable guys doesn't really bother me in the least. And if it is at the expense of the Lakers then I'll be downright ecstatic.

Between anyone and the Lakers, it's anyone by a mile.

agree. tp.
I believe Gandhi is the only person who knew about real democracy — not democracy as the right to go and buy what you want, but democracy as the responsibility to be accountable to everyone around you. Democracy begins with freedom from hunger, freedom from unemployment, freedom from fear, and freedom from hatred.

The star players run the league. It’s been like that for several years now. Also, AD forced a trade to the Lakers.

I’d want the end of the world and the earth to open up and swallow everything than have to root for either of those teams.

You don’t see players orchestrating their way onto the Lakers?  Been happening for decades. This iteration provide LAL with 2 of the top 5 players in the league.  Subsequently surrounded by guys willing to take less to win a ring.  More or less the story of Lebron’s career.   Nets are far from the precedent setters.

Lakers

I mostly like the Lakers team. I love AD and I appreciate LeBron more now that his athleticism is fading and his intelligence is on full display nightly.

The Nets? I dislike Kyrie. I somewhat like / dislike Harden due to both his brilliance & unlikable style of play. I somewhat like / dislike Durant due to his brilliance & I'm still not over him going to GSW and it is only making things worse that he is loading up on a super-team again instead of earning / leading his team to a title.

The total championships argument? Means nothing to me.

What Durant, Irving & Harden have done individually is beyond ‘player empowerment’. If they win this season it completely justifies their behaviour and actually indirectly encourages young stars to do the same.

The media are too scared to shame these three:

- Durant walked away from a team that was 1 win away from a second finals appearance to the team that beat him. Then says he is in love with the GSW and is lucky enough to have an accomodating star in Curry that is inclusive and shares the spotlight. He then decides I’m over it and creates a rift in that team by wanting out again and moves to Brooklyn.

- Irving was a headache in Cleveland actually forces his way out by saying he will ‘have surgery’ unless he’s traded. Says he wants to have his own team he can be a leader of, continues to be a head case, never acts like a leader, says publicly to the season ticket holders on camera he wants to resign with the Celtics and during that same season makes plans to leave and derails not only their season but the franchise trying to build around him. Then goes to Brooklyn says publicly other then a couple of teammates everyone else is crap (the guy wants to be a leader) then goes AWOL with no explanation, to his gm, team owner, coach and is seen partying and not caring about a pandemic.

- Harden throws Kevin McHale under the bus and he gets fired because Harden starts a season fat and out of shape (remember this?). He wants to play with Dwight Howard they get him, then Harden wants him gone. He wants Chris Paul so they get him, then he doesn’t so he’s gone. He goes behind Morey’s back to get Westbrook they get him. Every time giving up their future assets and players to make Harden happy. They bring a playing style in to make Harden an MVP, they let him miss practices because he was out late with strippers and hookers in clubs. With all Houston’s assets gone because of Harden...Harden demands to be moved and again gets fat doesn’t try like a petulant child till he gets his way.

These three outside of their obvious talent on the court are cancers of the league, and if they win a championship it validates everything they’ve done.

If you're a real Celtics fan...you root for the Nets to beat LA in the Finals.

Even if it was the 76ers vs Lakers, you pull for the 76ers.

Yes, that's how much we should despise the Lakers. Them winning will surpass us in banners this year, and I'm not talking about other years before they suddenly reached to our banner counts.

I generally root for meteor strikes in these situations.

relax. calm down. maybe everybody on each team will have to be quarantined due to COVID-19 protocals. nothing life threatening or dangerous....just enough to disqualify each team from the playoffs.  ;D

EDIT: dang. Roy beat me to this. dang. i knew he should have been banned days ago due to his green kornet remarks.  >:(
