I look at this team a lot like the Sixers last year; a team that gets a ton of hype before the season start that isn't really earned but sputters along because the pieces really don't fit. The light at the end of the tunnel is there, just probably not this season.
First and foremost, Danny has to decide what this team is - are we developing young talent or are we trying to compete? And then he needs to commit wholeheartedly to shaping that team without sentimentality. If we're trying to compete with Brown and Tatum, actually put pieces around them to 1.) compliment their skillsets and 2.) makes up for the shortcomings. That means trimming the fat in players who don't fit that mold to add playmakers and guys that can hit open shots. If he wants to kick the can down the road yet again, then get rid of the pricey vets and plays the kids.
