Good thing Nesmith and Pritchard got no shots this game. We might've lost....

The fact that we're hoping 2 rookies can save us just magnifies how thirsty we are for quality role players.

Imagine Harrison Barnes or Aaron Gordon or Norman Powell taking up minutes from Grant and Semi tonight?

You could try to get those two shooters shots or you could just keep doing this.... Miami rode a rookie all the way to the finals last year. Some coaches play rookies.

That coach also had reliable vets in Dragic and Iguodala to help alleviate those rookie mistakes in roote to a finals run.

Danny can fix this.

Tell Stevens to take the IU job. Hire pro coach.

Then, pull his head out of his ass and trade Walker, put in a playmaking PG, get a center and some spot shooters who play within the team's offense.

Who's the coach you'd hire? The fire Stevens Brigade love to call for his hiring but rarely name who they think should take over. I'm really curious has to who's out there that can come in and magically transform this team.

Was brad everyone’s first choice when doc left?  It’s a weak argument.  Give any coach a shot and they may surprise you.  There’s umpteen assistant coaches in the nba a that would probably love a job.  Brad has not and probably never will be able to figure out how to coach on the nba level.  He has zero clue what to do with the talent he gets.  That said some of it falls on the players not doing their jobs.  Maybe a more definitive coach would fix that.

It wasn't anyone's first choice because he wasn't on anyone's radar. For a guy that doesn't "can't figure out how to coach on the NBA level" there's guys with more NBA assistant experience that couldn't dream of getting us anywhere near 3 EFC appearances in 4 years. I recall some posters wondering if we should take one of the Van Gundy's or such after Doc jumped ship, but Danny took a coach no one expected instead running through the usual retreads. Because, and this next part is shocking, an NBA GM has a firmer grasp on his team than anonymous internet posters.

would it be different if the internet posters weren’t anonymous?

I don't know the NBA coaches that well, especially the top assistants. As for head coaches, any number of proven guys would make a huge difference for this team. Look at what Doc has done for the Sixers. Not sure that Rick Carlisle would be available, but a big offer and the chance to coach the team he played for would be very attractive. The chance to coach the Boston Celtics to their next few titles would be very attractive to any of these guys. Danny would have to change the roster.

A quality NBA coach and a couple of key acquisitions would put this team among the elite title contenders for the foreseeable future.
The Four Celtic Generals:
Russell - Cowens - Bird - Garnett

The Four Celtic Lieutenants:

Losing gets old and boring pretty quickly ....Tatum doesn’t look like one to stick around a losing team. Just saying.

You think Pritchard could get a shot next game? Could Nesmith put up the same numbers as Semi if he started? I guess I'll tune into the next game and see.

BANE!!!!

No one is saying that Stevens isn't a good coach. But he has a ceiling and he has reached it - 3 times in 4 years.

Has Doc transformed the Sixers or did Daryl Morey get players around his two stars that made more sense? Doc blew a 3-1 playoff lead just last season (not his first, btw) with Kawhi Leonard and Paul George, I'm not sure he'd do much more with the Sixers if they still had Josh Richardson and Al Horford clogging up the offense.

And what has Rick Carlisle done post-Dirk that Brad hasn't been able to do with a team post KG/Pierce team?

Feel the same way about Tatum. Not sure why.

Celtics had more Rebounds, Assists, less turnovers and shot a higher FG%. But Utah hit more 3’s and FT’s and that’s all she wrote..
Quoting Nick from the now locked Ime thread:

At some point you have to blame the performance on the court on the players on the court. Every loss is not the coach's fault and every win isn't because of the players.

The regular stats here: when Smart shot 10 FGs or more, Celtics lost.

Brad need to stop with this strange lineups, especially in Q3-Q4. Need to establish the shooting order that means Smart to shoot less.

And Kemba is not the answer as our PG with that low FG%. In a shootout against efficient team like the Jazz our low% FG player will be exposed.

You're right we need shooters to spread the floor. Our offense with Tatum and Brown should be a Ferrari but without shooters to spread the floor it's a jeep. Look who Brooklyn has coming off of their bench. Those shooters give Harden and Kyrie soooooo much room to operate it's not even funny.

This team isn't good enough to beat the best team in the NBA.

Look forward to the day when it can.

Thought we played our asses off and just got beaten by a team that is better than us.  Props to Utah... they’re tough.

That's on Danny. Build a team around your two best players and stop hemming and hawing about deals and crap and get the job done. The Bucks, The Clips, the Nets, The Lakers all the top teams over paid in deals to build these squads.Payup or shut Danny!!!!
