Mac Jones: passing:31/40 for 275 yards, 2TD, 1Int, passer rating: 101.6

That INT was BS, too. WR should have had that..

Fair to say that he’s looked the best of the Rookie QB’s?

Glad to see Brady get the win.  This game meant more for the Bucs than the Pats, imo.

But I was also glad to see the Pats play so well.  Their defense was stout, and Mac Jones is gonna be good.

I don't see an issue with the FG attempt.  Folk nearly made it, and I don't see them converting that 4th down. Yes, Brady had 59 sec and 2 timeouts, but regardless, Brady was going to win that game on the last drive.

This doesn’t make sense to me. If you believe brady is gonna win that game no matter what on the last drive, why would you not go for the first? If you get it you can run up the gut three times and kick it with 5 seconds left. (From at least 3 yards closer)

I don't know if Belichick believed that, it was just my opinion that Brady needed 30+ secs for a FG.  But the Bucs are great against the run and the Pats were without White.  And while the their secondary was banged up, I didn't see the Pats throwing in the rain with a rookie QB.

This Pats team, right now, is trash. Maybe they won't be that way all season, but for now it's a fact. The fumbles are beyond ridiculous at this point. And I can't believe the O-line is as bad as it is. Being 1-3 means they'd likely have to go at least 8-5 the rest of the season to make the playoffs, which I just can't see happening. So much for all those high-priced offseason acquisitions making a big difference.

What about optimism for Mac Jones, though?

Sure, but he's not going to be able to really spread his wings playing behind that O-line. He needs some legit protection.

Well, he's definitely going to shorten his release time.

Lots of second guessing over the decision to kick when it only missed by 6 inches. Obviously Folk was healthy enough, young enough and able to handle the weather enough. He just sailed it too far left by six inches.

I have no problem with the call. The defense was sticking it hard to the Bucs all night. If Folk hits it I liked our chances of getting that win.

Just 6 inches.

Nick I’m not really trying to be results oriented here. The reason I don’t like the call is cause the kick is at best 50 50. The problem with kicking it then is that brady gets the ball back down 2 with 50 seconds left and two timeouts. If we can just get three yards we can kick the field goal with 5 seconds left at worst three yards closer. I do kind of think this was a mistake, but realize how foolish that feels to write out.

The o-line was missing Brown, and going up against a nasty D-line including Shaq Barrett, Suh, Pierre-Paul and Vita Vea. It'll be fine

I don't like the shotgun on 3rd and 3.  No issue with going for the kick, but why not run the ball on 3rd and 3 to take time off the clock (or make TB use a timeout).  Maybe you get it or maybe you get a yard or two making either the kick easier or an easier 4th down play to go for it.  Shotgun on 3rd and 3 was the bigger issue with the play calling that I had at the end.

I didn’t have an issue with it.  They were playing for the first down, and Meyers was wide open; if not for the tip, it’s an easy first down.  How many running plays last night got them 3 yards?  The O-line was hurting and Mac needed all the time he could get

Even if you only get a yard, you force Tampa to use a time out, and then you either make the kick easier or the 4th down attempt easier.  With a minute left in the game, you run the ball there, if you are intending to kick the FG.  If you are going to go for it on 4th down no matter what, then I don't have an issue with a shotgun attempt on 3rd down.  I just don't like the collective decision making on those two plays.  It didn't make sense.

But it seems like the O-line has had the same problem every week so far, even when not facing a great D-line.

So Vic Fangio was quite upset today at the Ravens running the ball in the final seconds of the game (the Ravens were up 23-7) to secure a 100 yard rushing game to tie the NFL record at 43 straight games.  Fangio went on quite the rant about player safety, how it was disrespectful, etc.  Of course, Fangio called 3 timeouts starting with 28 seconds left in the game when the Broncos had the ball (they ended up throwing an INT in the end zone on a play that started with 10 seconds left).  So does he not care about player safety when he was calling time outs with under 30 seconds left and his team down 16, or is it only when the other team has the ball that player safety matters?

And let me be clear, I have no issue with Denver calling timeouts and trying to score, just don't complain about the other team running a play that they could only run because you didn't let the game end yourself.
