He sounded like an owner - one who takes the big picture view and does not overreact - unlike most of us.
He hesitated for just a half second when asked about Brad, but when you consider the fact that Brad's under contract - for a lot of money - looks like he's going to be the coach moving forward.
What I'd like to have heard Felger or Mazz ask - was about the bench and how Danny's drafting has created the current bench.
But he said it - they're rebuilding, not contenders this season and pretty much said we all need patience. And he's making his bed with Ainge and Brad.
At least barring a huge losing streak that puts them in lottery land....
End of day from his perspective the team has made 4 of the last 5 ECFs with essentially 3 different teams, has been competitive for the majority of Brad's tenure and has drafted JT and JB. If not for Covid the team would probably be playing to a sold out Garden win lose or draw. He's clearly in it for the long haul and doesn't have a championship or bust, you're only as good as your last loss mentality.
Of course, the things people say in public often have little bearing on what they say in private. Most of us, out of some perverse feeling of "I want to know if they're hurting like I do" mentality, want to hear owners, coaches, or players, call each other out in public. We want Wyc to say that the team is trash and that Brad is trash and will be fired if things don't improve, and that Danny is trash for failing to foresee that Hayward would leave and failing to replace him, and failing to build a decent bench. I mean, if Joe Bloggs sitting on his couch eating nachos and drinking Bud can see that they're trash, it's obvious, why can't they see it?? Unfortunately that type of discourse is a luxury that fans like us, whose words have little consequence, can use on mediums like forums, Twitter and talk radio. But I have a feeling that behind closed doors some very different conversations are taking place. Especially with Wyc, Danny and Brad, as to what the shape of this team should look like going forward.
