Gorman was on Toucher and Rich and called out Tatum and Brown for being ball-stoppers, not being leaders, etc. Audio at the bottom:

Good for you, Mike. Thank you

At some point you have to blame the performance on the court on the players on the court. Every loss is not the coach's fault and every win isn't because of the players.

I don't know, Jaylen has been kicking the ball to open guys a lot lately. It seems like at least he's been making the effort lately to get others involved.

IMO it's just as much to do with the level of talent of the guys outside of our top 2 as well (top 3 when and if Kemba returns to normal).

Gorman's spot on.  Pretty telling stuff here.

Worth the 18 minute listen.

Jays must each get their 20 shots off (which is ridiculous if you ask me. Doesnt have to be every single game)

It has helped raise their PPG. It helped them make the all star game.  Make an additional 1.3 m dollars

And Brad is not going to yell at them or anything. But praise them. Danny is going go praise them

It is a sad state of basketball

Celts two best games this season was vs Raptors and Hawks(game won).  More than 25 team assist

And it may also come down to trust

But when you see Doncic or Young get everyone involved. Making the right plays/passes.

You become jealous of how they play

Mike Gorman is spot on. He basically said what a lot of people here have been saying all along. It’s up to the team now to respond. John Collins is questionable to play tom and I expect the Cs to annihilate the Hawks. Anything less than a beatdown would be disappointing.

Mavs are a .500 team and the Hawks have a worse record than we do. I don't feel all that jealous.

I love Gorman but putting this on Tatum and Brown seems off-base.  Check out Kemba's game logs since he's been back and the team's W-L record.  It's been an atrocious performance both offensively and defensively.

Overarching themes are the team's decline in overall defense (relative to last season) and 4th quarter execution (a carry-over from last season and playoffs).
Love Stevens as well but how is he immune to criticism on these fronts?

I think the "ball stopping" is a little overblown when you consider this league and esp. we used to have this player his name was paul pierce and whenever we needed a basket we'd dump it into him and he'd get us something most of the time.

I think gorman forgets this a lil bit. In his defense I think he's more upset with the result, I think brown and tatum settle for a pull up jumper too much. Tatum is almost guaranteed to go for a fadeaway. But even brown too  instead of driving all the way will pull up in the paint and shoot that lil jumper.

And that's the problem with this team and no matter who the players are, it's the kind of offense they're told to play. But we have all these winning seasons that say otherwise so I must be wrong.

Let's just say they are ball stoppers (I disagree), but even if they are who exactly are they supposed to pass to?  Theis, Semi, Williams, Thompson, Walker, etc.  Who would you rather shoot the ball?  Who would you rather be making decisions?  If you can honestly say Daniel Theis, well then I almost feel bad for you.

I don't know how you mention ballstopping, iso play etc. without mentioning Kemba. At least Tatum and Brown have been more efficient with their ball stopping.

For all is recent woes Kemba hasn’t been a ball stopper. He doesn’t have great assist numbers but he moves the ball and tends not to take bad shots... he’s just been missing.

More broadly, Tatum and Brown are the team’s best players, as Mike points out. You get the glory and you get the blame. Starts with them.

I didn’t get to watch the Dallas game but from what I’ve seen in other games, JB is just as much of a ball stopper as JT is. JB loves sizing his guy up with hesi dribbles and cross overs and most of his turnovers seem to come from mishandling the ball rather than errant passes. If they can’t get past their guy, Tatum’s can end up in fadeaways while Brown’s can end up in long mid-range jumpers.

That said, those 2 guys are FAR AWAY our best options right now so it’s hard to argue. Like I’d rather have them create rather than rely on ball movement when most of our guys aren’t particularly good cutters nor are they knockdown shooters who can make defenses shift.

They passed vs Hawks and Raptors. 25 plus team assists.  Easy wins.

So dont tell me there is nobody to pass to

Doncic passes to nobodies. Team gets involved.
