I agree with Barney. They've tuned him out, but I think it's due to so many of the young players being tossed around in trade scenarios. They don't know whether they're going to be in Boston, Houston, Sacramento, or wherever. Lack of focus. Too young to handle the rumor mills.

Of Stevens gets fired it will take literally 1 day for him to get a new gig as I would think 4-5 teams will fire their coaches immediately and hire him.

I wouldn't fire him. I'm saying the inconsistencies are probably gonna continue until DA makes his moves and the dust settles down. Roles and rotation will be clearer. Players can relax and play.

Besides projection, is there really any concrete evidence of this?

well Stevens has stated he has lost sleep due to the lack of ball movement

And other than a few games this season,  its been mainly Iso type basketball.

It would be interesting to see what Stevens attempts to do to get more ball movement. Tatum, Walker and Smart are all chronic ball stoppers, and that's 3 of the 4 guys who have the ball the most.
They're all ball stoppers trying to change their ways - good luck with that.  The hope is that it can be done over time but ingrained habits are really, really hard to break.  They need to bring in someone good who will move the ball without thinking twice - like Hayward for example  :(

Which brings up another point - I think Hayward opting out caught Ainge by surprise. The team was set up to move forward with him on it - hence the cheap bench.

Good point about Hayward and the bench.

The team was OK without quality passing and ball movement last year, because there were 4 scorers who could all go off and didn't need help from anyone to do it. Subtract Hayward and take a bit off of Walker's game, and suddenly the team has a need for a pass oriented player to help create space for everyone but Tatum and Brown.

Walker was never a real point guard last year. It just didn't matter then.  Well, it matters now.

Kemba has never been a point guard anywhere but his NBA.com page. He’s a volume scoring SG. Point guards create.

I think Washburn article in today’s Boston Globe triggered this. Haven’t read it if someone can post.

Brad was pretty sharp with Gary Washburn in his response to Gary's question about why they looked sharper tonight. "They just needed a day off, Gary" Brad said.

This is his defining moment in my opinion. He needs to do something unconventional and unpopular if it's what the team needs to function better. Start Robert Williams, bench Kemba, bench Tatum or whatever it takes.
Trade Tatum? Maybe him and Kemba for KAT, Rubio, and Culver?

He really has not done a bad job with what he got..Ainge on the other hand....

I’m not defending ainge because he sux at drafting, but ainge got him kyrie and horford, and brad did nothing.  There’s blame all around

Exactly! Ainge really took some effort to bring ''names'' and still nothing happened. All we got from this was ''Kyrie saga''. He was actually blamed after all.
I personally think Danny should push it once more at this deadline and see what Brad does. One more shot. Big shot.

Washburn apparently wrote an article the other day after the Wiz game suggesting that the players had stopped listening to their coach, tuned him out. Can someone post it?  I imagine that didn't go over well with Brad.

I don’t think the team has tuned him out but this years Celtics is definitely marked with a ton of uninspired play. The offense looks good but it’s mainly because guys like JB and JT are incredible talents who can routinely make difficult shots. Meanwhile the defense is probably the worst it’s been in a while.

How do you know?  Have you been hanging out in the locker room?  Did you interview the players?

I don't know if they've tuned him out. But maybe they should, whoever is telling them to continue to Chuck jump shots when you have the opposing team in foul trouble needs to go.

Mike Gorman talked about it a bit on Toucher & Rich today, how he has seen it - though not to the extent that Washburn has written about
