He basically came back from having covid and got thrown into playing 38-40 mins per game. Not including yesterday's 23 minute outing, he's been averaging over 38 minutes per game this month. I know it's crazy, but he just might tired and we don't know how covid is going to affect athletes moving forward.
He probably does deserve some leeway for just coming back from an illness that affects your ability to exert yourself.
That said, even before he was out with covid, I was frustrating by his seemingly going back to a style of play that ignored getting to the free throw line. I had hoped that last year's playoffs were a light bulb moment for him in terms of getting to the line but it's looking more like a flash in the pan.
He's averaging nearly 6 free throw attempts per game this month which would be a career high - he's actually been steadily increasing his attempts since the season started. So it seems he's trying to get there more. Would also be nice if he got a few more calls every now and then.
That's a good point. There's reason for optimism.
He's still only at 4.5 for the season after taking more than 7 per game in the playoffs. But if you're right and the upward trend continues, I'll be happy.
