This guy was able to put the ball in the bucket easily with double digit box scores every time in college, and even in that preseason game last year. Then the season started and he forgot to shoot

Reminds me of fultz. Fultz doesn’t look so bad anymore, looks to be a rotation player at the very least.

He cant excel because Brad wont make his life easier

If Brad did. He would allow Edwards to bring up the ball,  Timelord or Theis to set a big fat pick. And Edwards have the green light to chuck it at will

Edwards it tiny.  It is hard to get your shot off in the NBA when you are the shortest guy on the floor.
2023 Historical Draft - Brooklyn Nets - 9th pick

Bigs - Pau, Amar'e, Issel, McGinnis, Roundfield
Wings - Dantley, Bowen, J. Jackson

We saw IT4 become a 29ppg scorer and MVP candidate. Edwards is bricking wide open shots. It’s between his ears, not his height.

I disagree.  In college he was the best athlete on the floor and his size didn't matter, it matters in the NBA.  It just doesn't come easy and he doesn't have the physical ability to overcome his size.  Very few players do.  Obviously IT4 is one of those guys (as was Mugsy Bogues and a few others).  Size matters.  And to be fair, he wasn't an elite shooter at Purdue. He was a good shooter, certainly, but far from elite.  His 2nd year he shot elite, but the other two he was just good, and that is just from 3.  He was only hitting 2 point shots at 45.5%.  And he only scored 1.25 points per shot attempt in his career.

Nesmith was a much better shooter in college than Edwards was.  Over 1.36 pps as well.  And has NBA size.  Edwards quite simply got a reputation on here that wasn't exactly accurate.  He was a small very good but not elite shooter in college.  That does not bode well as a predictor of NBA success.

truth

For a guy that is suppose to be a 3pt shooter/bread and butter. It is a deadly sin when you can't make open 3s

I addressed this in my last post and he was never really an elite shooter in college.  That is how he was sold to the fans, but that isn't reality and never has been.

While true, he should have been better than a 31.6% shooter on what seemed to be mostly open 3s last year.

His haircut ruined him

He was never a great shooter, but he certainly seems to have the yips right now.

non elite shooters can't do this (link below).  Maybe one game...but not these many games in a row

But the problem is that he is a volume shooter.  Needs reps to heat up...

But Brad won't allow Carsen to chuck up 10-12 3s a game

I bet he misses the first 5 and makes the next 3 etc.  Thats just the kind of streaky shooter this kid is

Smart can go on runs like that.  He isn't an elite shooter either.  Edwards was a very good shooter in college, but he wasn't elite.  And his percentages were all over the map his 3 years.  Couple that with him being very small and you can read the lines.  There is after all a reason he was a 2nd round pick.

If he was a streak shooter, he would actually start off hot sometimes.
Maybe this is who he is:

458th in eFG% last year. 1-10 from the field and 0-8 from 3 in this preseason.

Timing or rhythm.
That's his major problem. If he finds it (here is wishing he does this season), he could really contribute to the team. Kemba is his best model to make it work.
