That is just an awful, awful shot, Smart. Really wish Brad would hold these guys accountable when they do crap like that.

Smart is not the problem

The only thing I'd say about the preseason games is that the Javonte-as-a-starter experiment doesn't give me the warm fuzzies.  He doesn't have a role on the court.  He's not a defender.  He's not a shooter.  He's not a ball-handler, either primary or secondary.  He slashes a little bit, but not well enough to take touches away from Brown or Tatum or even Smart.  I don't see what he adds to the starting lineup.

I honestly think I'd prefer Ojeleye as a stopgap option in the starting lineup.  He's an average defender and three-point shooter (37% last year), and while he's a disaster if he tries to do anything else, he at least has a job when he gets on the court.  And I don't say this as a fan of Ojeleye.

Now for the steady dose of Carsen Edwards and Waters to run through the second half.... this team does not have what it takes to compete for a championship. I will no tbe surprised if Tatum starts agitating for a trade in a couple of years if things do not change.

Was this your opinion coming into the game. Or is it substantially revised after watching 24 minutes of essentially meaningless pre-season basketball?

I keep an open mind before the game. I like to see the Cs win every game. I am quick to express my disappointment when I see bad habits that plague the team year after year. Why would they even allow Kyrie to burn Sage on their court?  That is disrespectful.

It's common in Native American culture. Just because you're unfamiliar with it, doesn't mean it's disrespectful.

What is disrespectful is how the Nets are making us look like a G-league team tonight.
It is common to come into someone else's house to burn sage?

It's not a house. It's an arena.

The burning of sage on someone else's court is an affront because sage is burnt for spiritual reasons sometimes to drive out evil spirits. Is Kyrie trying to cleanse the TD Garden of evil spirits?

It's more reflective of spiritual growth and healing. Driving out evil spirits is a product of Americanized horror movies.

you are so wrong about this it is not even worth debating. What exactly is he 'healing' in TD Garden? And what does the 'healing consist of?

Taking about what’s his name just gives him what he wants. I ignore the crazy guy on the subway and you should too.

the amusing thins is that I know a lot about sage burning and that is exactly why I believe it is an affront to burn sage in someone else's 'house' and when you actually read up on the practice you will see why it is inappropriate for an opponent to perform this rite in his oponents house, but what do I know. Just a poster on a basketball site.

I know all about burning sage.

Giving crazy people attention is like feeding rats.

If it’s coming from Kyrie, I doubt it has much to do with actual growth or understanding.  Preening for the cameras like he’s on Tic Toc is more accurate.

He did the same thing before the game on Tuesday, but tonight it's a juicier story because he's in Boston. He could go do the same thing in Cleveland and no one would care. Some of his beef with the media is valid.

And btw, its TikTok. If you're gonna try to quote the youth, don't go all Boomer on it.

The Nets are coming off a long rest and the Celtics were just playing in the eastern conference finals.

So what you’re saying is that the Celts should be the sharper team, and the Nets are playing through rust?

Seriously, in preseason game #2, I’m not sure that fatigue is an excuse.

The other part about this short preseason and our underwhelming play thus far is that the start of the season is *very* rough for us. So that's probably going to exacerbate a slow start for us.

This team truly does live by the 3, and die by it.

Shooting 5/30 from beyond the arc but they'll continue chucking it anyways.

Looks like Stevens threw in the white flag. Third stringers back in.

My hope is that they’re giving him a legit chance to show what he’s got before cutting him.  I think he’ll inevitably be waived, with a better player brought in.

Are we running Houston’s offense but without the shooting?
