Javonte Green, not an NBA caliber player.

Seriously, what is the deal with him starting? I understand wanting to keep Teague in his future role as leading the bench, but it is painfully clear that we need more playmaking in the starting unit while Kemba is out. Brad has to make that switch. Hell, I'd prefer potentially even GWill or Semi in there instead of Green.
He’s a hard worker but he isn’t a good defender and he can’t really score. So he really doesn’t offer much. Either Teague needs to start or they need to go bigger with G Williams. For CBS to be starting Green, my assumption is he’s the guy they are penciling in as starter.

Green has one NBA skill - he can finish off the break - dunks and layups only. He can't shoot at all. And if they waived him tomorrow, no one picks him up except to be roster filler.  So why is he starting is an excellent question.

Now for the steady dose of Carsen Edwards and Waters to run through the second half.... this team does not have what it takes to compete for a championship. I will no tbe surprised if Tatum starts agitating for a trade in a couple of years if things do not change.

Was this your opinion coming into the game. Or is it substantially revised after watching 24 minutes of essentially meaningless pre-season basketball?

I keep an open mind before the game. I like to see the Cs win every game. I am quick to express my disappointment when I see bad habits that plague the team year after year. Why would they even allow Kyrie to burn Sage on their court?  That is disrespectful.

It's common in Native American culture. Just because you're unfamiliar with it, doesn't mean it's disrespectful.

What is disrespectful is how the Nets are making us look like a G-league team tonight.
It is common to come into someone else's house to burn sage?

It's not a house. It's an arena.

The burning of sage on someone else's court is an affront because sage is burnt for spiritual reasons sometimes to drive out evil spirits. Is Kyrie trying to cleanse the TD Garden of evil spirits?

It's more reflective of spiritual growth and healing. Driving out evil spirits is a product of Americanized horror movies.

If it’s coming from Kyrie, I doubt it has much to do with actual growth or understanding.  Preening for the cameras like he’s on Tic Toc is more accurate.

Good grief, how is that not a foul for Tatum? Like, it's right in front of you, zebras. Call it.

Taking about what’s his name just gives him what he wants. I ignore the crazy guy on the subway and you should too.

the amusing thins is that I know a lot about sage burning and that is exactly why I believe it is an affront to burn sage in someone else's 'house' and when you actually read up on the practice you will see why it is inappropriate for an opponent to perform this rite in his oponents house, but what do I know. Just a poster on a basketball site.

That is just an awful, awful shot, Smart. Really wish Brad would hold these guys accountable when they do crap like that.

You assume Brad actually calls any offensive plays. I don’t think they’ve run a play since before the bubble.

The Nets are coming off a long rest and the Celtics were just playing in the eastern conference finals.

So what you’re saying is that the Celts should be the sharper team, and the Nets are playing through rust?

Seriously, in preseason game #2, I’m not sure that fatigue is an excuse.

I suspect he wants to see what he can do with and against NBA caliber players.  When else can he do it?  I suspect Green will not be in the regular rotation once the actual season starts just like last year.
