Report out now that Philly is willing to trade Simmons.

To me that basically guarantees Harden will be a Sixer.  Just comes down to what peripherals will be in the deal.

Curry, Harden, Green, Tobias, Embiid

That's the lineup you've gotta beat.  It doesn't scare me defensively, but very hard to defend.

Sounds like those reports are speculation.

Whatever happened to players honoring their contracts? Harden gets paid extremely well and fully understood the terms of his deal. I want to see teams putting their foot down on these trade demands by star players. It's one thing if a player is on the last year of his deal and says look, I don't plan on re-signing here. It's another if he's got 3 seasons left on it like Harden does. You sign a contract, live with your choice and honor it. If the team sucks, make an effort to improve your teammates and the team culture.

Assuming his list of 4 teams is accurate and the 76ers and Heat are offering Simmons and Herro, respectively, if you're Houston which player do you want?

Simmons for sure.

Yup.  No brainer.
Honestly if Simmons is on the table, I'm not sure there is any reasonable package that can beat that offer from any team.  Simmons is a 24 year old 3rd Team All NBA player that was also on the 1st Team All Defense and is signed long term.  Tatum could potentially be on the Simmons level from a value standpoint, but there is no reasonable financial way for Boston to acquire Harden without either Kemba or Brown and Smart, and in either of those Boston isn't including Tatum because the team left behind wouldn't be good enough (and would be too much value for Harden anyway).

Tatum is already more valuable than Simmons. He’s younger and adding more wrinkles to his game each season. Simmons hasn’t progressed at all. He’s great at some things, terrible at others. Tatum has no weaknesses.

Those days are over for sure. Players now view their rights as equal to that of the team, for better or worse.

That meaning if a team can trade or cut a player for whatever reason they want then a player can similarly demand out.
'23 Historical Draft: Orlando Magic.

PG: Terry Porter (90-91) / Steve Francis (00-01)

PF: Terry Cummings (84-85) / Paul Millsap (15-16)
C: Chris Webber (00-01) / Ralph Sampson (83-84) / Andrew Bogut (09-10)

It doesn't work that way though. If they want that right, they should ask for it in their contract, or the players association should make it a point in the next CBA. As is, you sign a deal, you have to honor it. If I were a GM I'd put my foot down and the heck with the consequences. Teams make huge investments building their franchises around these guys, who then just selfishly decide to skip town for greener pastures whenever things don't go their way.

Regardless of how some here feel about him, the dude is a STUD.

I personally love our team as it is but make no mistake about it James Harden is a premier talent in the league.

I think he's gonna be a sixer too. The report that followed claiming Houston is expanding trade talks beyond his preferred teams seems like a ploy to put pressure on Philly to squeeze out more than just Simmons.

Started by LAL and Shaq. It has been nauseatingly repeated from then on. I think the league's reputation deeply suffers from the practice compared to other US pro leagues.

Morey has responded to Shams tweet, stating:
“We are not trading Ben Simmons — he is an important part of our future.”

He also told Chris Paul he wasn't trading him and then traded him to OKC a week later.

Take every report and statement with a huge grain of salt.

Yep and the pencil-neck Commissioner kisses the player's ass at every opportunity. He couldn't wait to agree with Draymond Green's ludicrous demand that team owners be called "governors" instead because playing for an owner makes him feel like a slave.

It's that type of moronic thinking that has allowed players to make selfish demands to the degree that we see in the NBA today.

Surely Danny learned his lesson from the Kyrie Irving debacle and is not one of the GM's considering a trade for Harden.

You’d have to think so. Plus the cost for Harden would be astronomical!
