Heat just extended Adebayo with max deal. A sign Giannis is staying in MIL going forward?

https://twitter.com/shamscharania/status/1331308570403594243?s=21

Only 163m?  Why not up to 190 plus million Tatum signed?

Is there a player option?

I really dislike that player option Danny gave Tatum

IF Danny insisted he could not provide that option.  Tatum would have still signed that deal

nope

As I came across it again tonight, that De'Aaron Fox max contract seems like an overpay IMO.  He's pretty good, but I don't think he's a top 10 point guard in the league right now, which means he's basically a slightly above average starter at his position.  32 mil per year for that?  Yikes.  Hope he continues to improve!

I think he's pretty darn good. Doesn't get much respect because of Sacramento, but he averaged 21/7/4, gets to the line a heap, shot nearly 50%. He's improved significantly every year - could happen again

Sacramento won’t match the Bogdonavic offer.  Typical Sactown.
I don’t get that franchise. So confusing.

 ??? ::) :D ;D :laugh:

At least they're unpredictable...
They must be thinking, always one move ahead of the curve  8) (or they're not thinking at all  :-X)

I agree that he's pretty good.  But I still maintain he's slightly above average starter at his position.  Even those numbers... he still isn't even really close to the level of Harden, Curry, Lillard, Kyrie, CP3, Doncic, Lowry, Kemba, Ben Simmons, Westbrook (as polarizing as he is, I think Kings certainly would have more wins with him in Fox's place). Jamal Murray (who in fairness is a max guy himself) I'd take over Fox pretty clearly.  Then there's young point guards like Ja Morant and Trae Young who already might be better than Fox too, however also are likely en route to max contracts eventually.

Maybe having a max point guard is the key to the NBA today.  But I wonder if you're setting yourself up in a bad situation if one of your one max contract player is going to be outmatched by his counterpart in most playoff rounds.

I felt the Bogdon to the Hawks was a given, especially with the Kings seeming apathy toward him. He seemed like a natural fit and the Hawks could pay him pretty well.

In our mock off-season earlier this year, I ended up acting on the Hawks behalf to offer Bogdon a 4 year, 90 million dollar contract just to make sure the Kings wouldn't want to match.

Glad I'm not a GM. That would have been an overpay of about 4 million a year.

Then you're making negotiations contentious for no reason. I don't mind Danny showing some willingness to compromise here in a show of good faith. Now it's on Danny to build a contender around Tatum so that the option becomes a moot point.

Both of those deals have escalator clauses that can rise to almost 200 million, so the money is around the same. The only difference is that Bam agreed to an extension that had no POs.

Wow, one year minimum! His value has evaporated completely

Pretty amazing. I understand he has his limitations, but we're talking about a guy who averaged 15/14 and *led the league in blocks*, while shooting 62%. His team's offensive rating was 5 points better with him on the court, and their opponents were 3 points worse. Net of 8.

Surely he's worth more than a complete scrub at the end of the bench even if he's not shooting 3s. Is he just personally THAT toxic?

Back home to where it all started. Sacramento were his first NBA team weren't they? 2nd round pick? Hardly ever played him. Left the NBA for awhile.

Feels like this is a mess waiting to happen with Mo Bagley. Bagley has to play the five to fulfill his talent. A quick five. Run and gun basketball. I just feel like they are going to try and sandwich Bagley in at PF next to Whiteside at C and it is going to be a disaster for their (1) spacing (2) team success (3) individual development of Bagley.

I do not like this signing for Sacramento.

Not a ton of risk for one year deal.

Some good free agents still out there.

As far as I know, the following players are still available (and might be a good fit):

Shaqulle Harrison, Tyler Johnson, Evan Turner, Ersan Ilyasova, Kyle O'Quinn

No 5th year player option but it does have triggers to reach 195.6M.
